I'm grateful for that "goody good" image. I agree with Donny. I don't and still don't see anything wrong with that. I've always been an Osmond fan and looked up to them when I was young. I'm thankful that they were my role models. I think I was able to stay out of a lot of trouble because of their example.

So agree with you. Seems it was a lifetime ago watching them perform and enjoy their music. Love their show to, really enjoyed the comedy and music. Being goody goody is something we should all to aspire to.

It's just an image, and not reflective of real life. It doesn't mean they're necessarily bad people; but when your livelihood is derived on projecting an image to the world, one should always take it with a grain of salt. Bear i n mind this was also a pretty bad time for Donny, with him being reduced to playing at college venues and business conventions.

Donny was going through a really difficult time in his career. He couldn’t get a recording contract, the one small Broadway debut he did had bombed (he was told because of him), etc. so he was in a really low point in his life at this time. This was one reason he grew a beard; he was trying to change his image from a bubble gum heartthrob to a more serious artist/performer. Fortunately his wife was a strong anchor of support for him. He’s of course doing so much better today and is quite content with his career.

As someone once posted in a Osmonds video, being angsty, moody and dark is so celebrated, why cant being happy, positive and loving life? My natural personality and things that ive gone through in life have shaped me into not necessarily a pessimist but a realist. I always wished i could turn my mindset into a "positive" one, but it never would stick. But one thing with the Osmonds videos, i can find a slice of that happiness i felt for a brief moment years ago. The Osmonds calm me, put a smile on my face. Knowing everything theyve faced and can come out swinging with gratitude and grace, well that does put a mindset in me that it is ❤possible to live through negatives and come out the other side smiling and appreciating what you have and who you are. ❤❤

I always liked what Marie did to her hair. I would even go to the salon and get my hair styled like hers. I have the bob with feathered bangs today.

Why is there such a stigma attached to decent people, to the point that they’re called names like “goody-goody?” I hate that. I’d rather be known as a “goody-goody,” someone who treats others decently, than a spoiled, nasty, entitled tyrant.

Totally agree. Good question and food for thought about society in general. Especially these days. Osmonds have always conducted themselves well, with class, as decent people in the public eye. Give me more of those type people, please!!

Clearly Oprah wears weaves this is 1984 by the time her show went national she had bouncy locks. Give her hairdressers credit they did a miracle job!

Sorry, those bouncy locs was her real hair when her show went national. Women love to change their hair, famous or not.

Oprah's hair grows quickly. She has always had a head full of hair. When she started this show, a hairdresser permed her hair and it fell out. That's the only reason it's very short during this period.

He's just a little resentful, eh?
@youtubepapi3 жыл бұрын
He was very defensive. This was a low point in his career where he couldn’t catch a break. About 10 years later he made a fat joke to Rosie O’Donnell on her show and received major backlash. I think that softened his edge.

My husband took me to see Donny and Marie at about this time. After the show we hung around, as I wanted to try to get their autographs. A guy had a 45 record of Puppy Love he wanted Donny to sign. Donny came out and was talking to the stage hands. The guy asked Donny if he would sign the record. He wouldn't come over to sign it. He had one of the stage hands get the record and bring it to him. With sort of this same attitude. I was afraid to say anything to him. Then Marie came out with an arm load of books and music. I asked her if she would autograph my program. She was so sweet. She somehow finagled all the books and what have you into one arm, put my program on top and signed it. I was so, I guess star struck, that afterward I thought, why did I not ask her if I could hold her things! I found out later that Donny was going through some issues and most likely that was the reason he acted the way he did. I'm glad he and Marie are doing well these days.
