Ah...a case of the drive for creativity overcoming cognitive dissonance, changing one mind by the willingness to experiment and experience new things...extra bonus points that it came in a video featuring how our perceptions of “real and true” get played with by our very sensory organs/instruments! I "dabbled" in 3D art for a while, discovered that surfaces directly against the paper should be their true shape (for example, a circular "hole" shape in the paper SHOULD be drawn as a true circle). The reason being that it will always accurately follow the perspective that the paper is on.

Just when I think I’m not going to like a video because of the topic, like blending stumps, (boring item) then Jazza goes and makes it fun and entertaining and engaging. I felt the same about optical illusions, but dang it Jazza, you made me like it! The key is that you are being simply YOU. It’s what everyone is connecting to; your excitement and enthusiasm for art and sharing it with your unique and quirky personality, no matter the topic, that’s the best content ever. Strong work Jazza! Keep on being you and being real. ❤️❤️❤️

I've never been an artist, per se, but in high school we could substitute design and drafting for art requirements. I fell in love with the precision of the work we did. One of the best classes I took was a 3D projection class. It was basically taking a XYZ draft of an object, and then projecting it into a faux-3D space by perspective drawing, and vice versa. This was back in the early 90's. Even at the time, there was computer software capable of doing this very thing, but learning how to interpret 2D content into 3D space, and vice versa (even if mentally) was a good skill, which has helped me in life. Even though I don't do work related to CAD, or art, simple projects around the home can require flattening 3D space into 2D plans, or imagining 2D plans projected into 3D space.

As someone who has taken technical drawing classes, watching Jazza draw straight parallel lines with just a ruler (no square and bevel) hurt my brain and soul

Jazza: “...I think mainly because in real life we have depth perception...” I don’t have depth perception 😢. I have Amblyopia and Esotropia Strabismus in my left eye (meaning my eye looks inward) so my brain takes most of the input it gets from my right eye and peripheral from my left but it suppresses most of the input it gets from my left eye. As a result my left eye is weaker than my right. I may try to do another Strabismus surgery (I had two when I was a little because as a baby my right eye also crossed) at some point which would hopefully straighten my left eye however it wouldn’t change my eye sight. Some people have had success with vision therapy yet there isn’t a vision therapy eye doctor near enough to me. When I close my left eye, everything is pretty much the same except I lose the peripheral from the left.

My way to do this kind of drawing is by setup the camera angle first and attach it to the monitor. Then I plestered my paper on the table so it won't move. After it, I can draw on the paper but keep in track with what I drawing by seeing the monitor.

Just had a video idea 🍿 Take a bag of pop corn and pick out a few random shapes. Use these to make characters or figures. Boom 🤯 (I'm not sure if this has been done or not)
