One of the biggest strengths of Boris FX Optics is how easy it is to layer effects together to create something more complex-looking than a single filter. Ben Brownlee demonstrates the power of layering multiple image filters and masks. Beginning with the concept of layering and blending filters, we dive into changing contrast and lighting effects to the main image.
We start with a low-contrast effect and demonstrate how to adjust its opacity and blending mode to control its impact on the image. Then dive into masks to limit effects to specific areas or pixel values. We check out a couple of different mask types, including EZ Mask, a way to create a complex mask with just a few strokes of the pen.
Boris FX Optics 2024 is available now as a plugin for Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom, as well as a standalone application for macOS and Windows.
