Welcome to the premiere episode of my latest series, Options! Ever since I embarked on my alcohol sobriety journey, I've been very interested in learning about other people's relationship to the substance. With so much polarizing content online, I wanted to create a safe space for my friends and I to talk about how we feel about drinking culture and the influence alcohol had/has on our lives. And what better way to kick this series off than with my dear friend, ‪@damondominique‬?! On today's episode we talk about how Damon ended up being 'accidentally sober' in this chapter of his life, how our cities have influenced our perspective on drinking, the impact of addiction within our families, and mucho massss! We hope you enjoy xx

The escapism is very real when it comes to alcohol and other substances, even the internet and food. I love that y'all touched on this topic. When we aren't connected to a purpose, life feels draining and disconnected. We can get so wrapped up in ourselves. I love how Damon mentioned being of service and being grateful and how that pulls us out of ourselves without using a substance.

When Damon was going on his book tour I came to see you two in LA. I thought at the time that I was going to move to Italy that year but life happened and just a few days ago I moved to Puerto Escondido MX. I was very emotional that day because sitting and talking in front of me were two people who embodied my dream. It was almost proof that the life I want exists and isn’t just a dream on a screen. I remember how kind and thoughtful your response to my question was about how will I know when the right time to travel is. I felt like you really saw me and knew exactly what to say. So, thank you💜 I feel like I just started a new life and it’s crazy and overwhelming and scary but also very beautiful and fun. It’s like I’m proving to myself that I can be all the things I want to be. And both of you have been a really positive influence and sense of direction. I’m really glad that you both put out your beautiful energies to the world! 💙💚❤️💛💜❤️🩷🩵🤍💙

Love this collab!! 🥰❤️👏🏾 I've never really had an issue with alcohol, I used to think I needed it in social settings for ”confidence”, but thankfully I got over that. Now I just drink it casually and never too much. And currently I've not had any alcohol since new year’s I think. Around me, drinking is not that big of a thing..I guess I started drinking when I turned 18 cus that's when it was legal. I feel my relationship with alcohol is pretty healthy. I don't need it and I don't like the taste of it mostly except maybe sweet wines on special occasions. I enjoyed this conversation, it was a really nice and easygoing chat ❤

Nice conversation. I also grew up with opposites, a unhealthy drinker who became violent when drinking and one who never touched anything. I rarely drink, but I do sometimes take a beer when I sit with my exams because it just chills my body a bit( anxiety). I love going out dancing and that is the only time I feel a bit pressured to drink, I wish there where more clubs that was non alcoholic.

I have stopped drinking because it is a poor coping mechanism. When you have true issues and not handling them healthily then alcohol is a PROBLEM.

Shrooms isnt the escapism part? Come on Damon yoube done both where drinking id culturally the acceptable weekend lifestyle for the normal 9-5 so to qoute the sober life choice was to keep you on tract or not to deter you from your path is such the perfectist view and workscholic culture that leds to a burn out that the weekend life relieves you from. So lets drink
