Great lesson, thanks for sharing Joel! I think this is the area of mixing I struggle with the most: keeping the drums/percussion clean without over scooping the mids or over boosting the high frequencies. Time for more practice!

Any tips for choosing mic range for ochestral percussion like close or room? Should we add reverb to them? Thank you. What about panning?

Thanks joël for this great video. Do you recommend cutting the mud before compression? I feel compressing the drums after EQ brings the normal frequencies closer to the attenuated mud frequencies. Thanks.

Are you going to have a video on compression? It seems like most people is avoiding that in orchestral, so I'm curious how you would tackle both subtle and not so subtle use of compression in orchestral stuff. :P

Good idea ! I will do that. I already talked about multiband compression but I'll probably do a video that focuses on full range compression.
