I always disliked this episode because Bushido Brown dies, but when you know all of the references; that the Hateocracy are based off of black comedians, the Naruto tribute, and the fact that Bushido Brown dies to the flying guillotine, that's just cool. I can't even complain.

This episode is also inspired by an old kungfu movie called "Master of the Flying Guillotine", which is the weapon the old guy uses to decapitate Bushido brown. They even use the same sound effects.

Fun fact: the person playing Bushido Brown in this episode is actor and martial artist Michael Jae White. He played Spawn, Marcus from Why Did I Get Married, a direct to DVD called Blood and Bone and wrote a little movie called Black Dynamite. Black Dynamite also became a cartoon that was created by the guy that plays Thuggnificent on the Boondocks! (Which him and Aaron McGruder apparently got in an argument over and why he (Carl Jones) wasn't involved in season 4)

That weapon that Rufus Crabmiser was using was a flying guillotine. It's a reference to a classic 70s kung fu movie called master of the flying guillotine. Quentin Tarantino said it's one of his favorite films and is one of the inspirations for kill bill. The noise the weapon made was also in the movie.

I was shocked at Bushido Brown's death too 😂 😂 and yes every bathroom needs a bidet, weird history did a good video on why we don't have those everywhere and have to get them installed 😅 😅. Also, yes Redd Foxx and LaWanda Page played Fred Sanford and Aunt Esther in the show Sanford and Son, and Jimmy Walker famously played JJ Evens on the show Good Times. All three are indeed legendary black comedians from the 70s with Jimmy Walker being the only one of them still living. I remember first watching their shows around the same time this episode came out so I got the reference right away. Although the crab in the bucket imagery I wasn't aware till I was a bit older 😅 😅.

One thing I like to keep in mind is that the whole "crabs in a bucket" thing is a myth... kinda. Turns out crabs aren't trying to keep other crabs in the bucket, they're just all trying to get out and they don't realize they're getting in each others' way. Because they're fucking crabs, and crabs are fucking stupid. So it's still a good metaphor, just not for the reason people like to think.

Since nobody else noticed, the first major fight scene at the school and at the fishing dock are largely directly inspired by the last two episodes of Samurai Champloo. They even utilize some of the same exact shots from the episodes. You should watch those episodes and come back and watch this! It's great. (Edit: I see you guys just started Champloo recently. Well, in that case, _watch this episode again before you watch the last two episodes of Champloo"!_ lol
