Another great video and review of a nice set of powered near field speakers. I have Edirol MA 200 powered speakers. They are a great way to hear the music in my Studio and also I use them to play my hammer 88 keyboard and my Yamaha CP 30 . I have used a powered subwoofer for lows. Your speakers are great for the desk and your keyboard as well. I wished I had the power you have with your speakers. My speakers are powered independently so I have to plug them both individually to the wall socket , but the main speaker is connected to the speaker and it is providing preamp signal and audio. I don’t move them around much because they can be a pain to use them because both have to be plugged in to the wall. I only have 20 watts per speaker even with a dedicated amplifier.

Nice review. I found these speakers have nice mid range at lower volumes especially when the music is less complex. Ie less instruments. They seem to struggle with delivering clean mids when the music is more complex,or even when theres a lot of base. Adding a subwoofer fixes this and they really shine when they dont need to generate the punchy bass. When you plug in the subwoofer, the r1700s auto detect this and you can physically see the little woofers move less as they pass the bass heavy lifting onto the subwoofer and focus on mids & high frequencies.
