14:00 this point, right here. I worked for my dad as a teenager, fixing emergency generators in hospitals, data centers, etc. He was always yelling at me to, "move with a purpose!" Fast-forward about 6 years and I had joined the Army, was stationed in Mosul, Iraq. Middle of the night (I worked the nightshift), one of my buddies had walked from the ER, across the road in front of the building and was sitting on the other side of a barrier smoking. I went out to talk to him and for some reason, there in the back of my mind was my dad...."move with a purpose!" I chuckle to myself and pick up the pace a bit......**SNAP** On the back of my head, I felt the shockwave of a sniper's bullet as it JUST missed my head. He was to my right and if I was not "moving with a purpose" as my dad told me to, I wouldn't be here today. Take in all the wisdom you can from other men. You never know what piece of advice or seemingly asinine requirement might save your life someday.

My father always said, "Walk with a purpose". Meaning, don't ramble like you're lost and don't hurry like you're late."

Most people in this day and age just bury their faces in their phones and avoid eye contact. This is the kind of stuff that needs to be taught by parents to their kids today.

Regarding Point 9- I can personnally attest to this. I was 465lbs, I knew my job and all was fine from what I could tell. I was being pushed and coralled into situations- not followed. People avoided me when I walked down the hall and avoided eye contact. So I lost 265 lbs. Now (basically same skills and mind set but 190lbs) Women approach me. Men consider me a leader and ask me to mentor them and my income (not just due to weight- though that was definitely a part of it) has more than tripled- really. I get so many more opportunities now.

I will read people’s name tags at the local grocery store or gas station or just some fast food restaurants and then ask them by name how their day is going. It does nothing for me to make conversation with some random person except for the fact that for us right moment with some people you’ll notice that the smile in that smile that they have become contagious on to me or on to others. Bc of this they may pay more attention my order or whatever they are doing.

I think moving slowly and deliberately portrays more dominance than moving quickly. A Lion, or a grizzly bear, or a silverback gorilla dont move quickly for anything if they dont want to or its absolutely necessary.

Some weird way of turning someones story or conversation into a story about myself...... VERY uncompelling. Its the reverse of your point #6 - Be interested in other individuals.

Excellent podcast and list Ryan! This is another lesson that I will be sharing and watching with my boys. Even though these could potentially be blended in with a couple of your points, I would include Read Good Books and Learn Public Speaking Skills. Reading Good Books gives depth to a man and definitely helps in being more interesting and contributing to conversations and the lives around one’s self. Learning Public Speaking Skills could definitely bleed over into telling stories, but, for many men, learning to speak in public can go a long way to boost confidence and help a man communicate more comfortably in any environment. Going back to what you said about the "lone wolf mentality." I think the lone wolf is simply depicted as being at the top of the hierarchy scale. In many ways, the lone wolves we admire are all compelling men.

eye contact... I work in a man camp half my life. walking down the hall passing by another worker... 5% will give eye contact and say good morning or good day. very weird

No your just fat in that dress . 3 Everything you do has purpose. Whether you are working or relaxing it needs to be purpose driven . If you are working you work toward those goals . I own a barber shop, I enjoy having young boys come into the shop. These boys are not taught how to give a good hand shake, look in the eye. I make these boys shake hands and look into the eyes. It's funny when they give a wet noodle hand shake, I say to them to put some ass into the hand shake and then give the proper hand shake and the parents laugh. Fathers do not do not teach hand shaking to their boys. Great video.

I'm also a beardsman but in your experience from shorter to longer beard as yours is now, how differently are you perceived or treated if any? A big natural beard is epic but has a negative stigma that is hard to overcome with the majority of society. You talk alot about appearance and I'm just curious how this affects you personally.
