I love my XL21. It was purchased new in 2008 and is still the best vacuum (other than my Lux canister) that I have ever owned.. I take it apart and clean it on a regular basis. Only replaced the belt 1 time in all these years. Although I have loads of extra bags, belts & a new brushroll. Enjoy your videos.

I enjoy your tear down videos. Almost all of my acquisitions get torn down and washed in the bath tub just as you do. It’s a lot of labor and detail work. But so worth it when the machine is all back together. It’s nice to see someone else take the time and effort it requires to return these vacs to their former condition.

Finally, I've been wanting to see some test done to one of these vacuums, I used to have an XL Platinum (facelifted version of this) and always wanted to know the real performance numbers compared to the classic XL.

I absolutely love that vacuum. I’ve wanted one for so long. But there really over priced now. I’m gonna have to get lucky and find it at a Goodwill

This video helped me take apart my Oreck XL2 which was in similar condition. Great video!

You were so amazingly thorough when you cleaned that out! I couldn't believe how much dirt came out of the bag when you washed it out! Holy cow! That Persil is good stuff, too! I've come to *swear* by Persil. Truly an outstanding product. - - Anyway, I look forward to seeing when you have this assembled & back together! 👏🏻

I'll buy anything that you have refurbished with absolute confidence. I wish I only had half of the patience you have to be so meticulous. Admirable and amazing 😃

I just ordered a new XL2100RHS commercial blue model. The least expensive ORECK upright i think ($150 USD online). I'm not sure how my XL2100 series compares with the XL21 regarding cfm, motor, etc. But it supposed to arrive today and I've never been so excited about a vacuum in my life. mine doesn't have a bag doc, doesn't have headlights, doesn't have mid handle, it has single speed motor, 35' cord, I'm watching every ORECK maintenance video i can. I really appreciate your posting this vid. I bet your wife wasn't too happy about using the bathtub though. Lol. But it's nice to see how these go together and how to clean them. Thanks! *Also, i just ordered a bag doc adapter because my Commercial XL doesn't come with one.

There is a huge difference between the XL2XXX and XL21 series. Very different designs.

Sad that this machine wasn't taken care of, especially for the price it was bought for brand new. The XL21 is a great vac and will last if you take good care of it

My grandma had this machine, and it was amazing. Unfortunately one of their thick rugs got sucked into it and it pretty much demolished the brushroll, belt, and housing

Man I do a very simular job except i never took a motor apart to change bearings. Thanks for the demo of that. I usually take the plastic off the bottom of the bag and flip it inside out to get the inside bottom good as it makes it easier. The outside housing and bumper cleans up good with a magic eraser bar and totally awesome cleaner or alcohol. Just be careful around the lettering as it can take some of it off if you are not careful but it takes all the scuffs and wall paint off with ease. The XL21 is my personal vac I purchased back around 2008 and it's still does a very good job due to keeping it maintained.

I love these vacuums, however I’m scared to use mine as I’ve had one catch fire in the past

That might be awhile since I keep my cars very clean. Think something like over a year before they need vacuuming.

I remember when the Oreck XL21 came out as early as 2004-2006, because when I was a kid I remember seeing the infomercial for this vacuum made Me want one So Bad, but I never got one! These are getting to be SO RARE these days at least from My local Goodwill perspective. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/rs-ki5WSudvZZY0.html

How did you get the cord off from the housing?
@timconnell95874 жыл бұрын
2007 sounds about right on the build date with a price of $499. You will have this like new in no time. This was their top of the line model with a 21 year warranty.
@VacLab4 жыл бұрын
What's weird is the motor build date is 2007, but the fan housing has a date wheel that says 2009.

@@VacLabI actually bought the XL21 at an Oreck dealer in 2007 because in remember returning it within the 30 days. My mom owned a cleaning business and she used Orecks because of the light weight. I look forward to the future tests with this cleaner. This had the 2 speed motor which I think was more powerful.
@VacLab4 жыл бұрын
@@timconnell9587 this two speed motor has a nominal 3.5 Amp draw on high speed. That's a factory spec.
