DO NOT USE THESE STYLE RESISTORS FOR YOUR VEHICLE!!! READ THE REVIEWS OF THE PRODUCTS YOU'RE BUYING!! These Chinese resistors that you find literally everywhere (local auto parts store, Amazon, eBay, KZfaq Links, etc) are 150w 6ohm resistors. LEDs won't EVER call for this much resistance. Because of this, these resistors get SCORCHING HOT (over 250-300 degrees F) in a matter of seconds (around 15-25 seconds of use) due to the resistors insanely high Amp draw. Most 12v resistance situations (CanBus Errors, Hyper Flash, etc.) call for 16-18 ohms of resistance @ around 13-15 watts. Simply buy (2) 25watt 8ohm resistors and wire them both in series (+ to -). That is PLENTY for a 12-16v application without burning up your car or constantly replacing LED lights that should be lasting months if not years longer than what they do.

On the Sylvania box it very clearly notes the resistors are for off-road use only. I just bought 4 of them from Walmart. And now, after watching this and reading elsewhere, I might just do what no one else has mentioned. I might just use a spare socket and a new incandescent bulb in place of the load resistor, and put that somewhere. I only need 1 resistor on each side. The incandescent bulb radiates a lot of its heat in the form of IR, where the resistors are strictly pure heat radiation.

It depends on the vehicle. Some vehicles only require a minimum load on the left or on the right flasher. This is due to the mechanical flasher that requires enough current to heat the internal bimetal element. Some newer vehicles that utilize Canbus may require a resistor for each bulb. This is due to the circuit design which may not even have a flasher canister installed.

Personally I would rather solder in the joint rather then use the infamous "3M" connector. 3M is top notch but this one goes back to the 60's or before. Break out the soldering tool and some shrink wrap and wire this inside the automobile if at all possible. I will be using weather pak connectors so if the resistor goes bad I don't have to deal with the harness again just the resistor.

LOL. Have fun. I ran Auxbeam switchbacks with no problem, then I upgraded to MAXGTRS. Everything was great until I started the car and tried all of the light positions out. I got hyperflash only when the car was running and the parking lights were on. When the car was off, I didn't have hyperflash. When the parking lights were off, I didn't get hyperflash. I took the front facia off and removed each headlight to install a resistor on each one. "03 Accord. I already had MAXGTRS in the rear turn signals, and they worked without any resistors. 1157 switchbacks in the front turn signals and 7440 in the rear. Each bulb is a little over 2000 lumens. Super-super bright. Most vehicles now no longer have a relay you can change out for one that is LED capable, hence the need for the resistors.

U can still run led with a better approach. Instead of wiring the load equalizer resistor, just get the led flasher relay and swap them. When u have a turn signal lights on. U hear it clicking sound. Go under the steering wheel and from there, u will listen that turn signal click sound. It’s behind the plastic panel, once u do that. Use ur fingers to feel if u see a large box that’s labor as flasher relay. From there that’s the one u can swap from own to led flasher relay. Much more easier approach than splicing the wires.

I used to own a Volkswagen and with the special software a lot of owners use on those there is a way to switch it to LED mode and not need resistors. I wonder if anything like that is at all possible with a 2017 Rogue Sport SV. Volkswagen owners use VCDS and a cable made for connecting their car to their laptop. It can do a myriad of things including make your car just not start at all if you are not careful!! I wonder if something similar exists for Nissan. The only drawback to it is everything is in hex decimal and needs to be entered exactly or any number of weird things may happen. *It is not for the faint of heart* !!

How many load resitors is too much ? I want to change a few bulbs in my car to led like reverse, brake (separated from rear blinkers) and front blinkers and I'm wondering if there's a maximum of load resistors you can put in a car. Is it, as long as it is not in contact with some sort of plastic, I can put as much as I need ? FYI : I've already change the brake bulb to led and installed a load resistor on each side. Online I only saw load resistor installation for fixing hyper flash but never seen it for brake lights. In my car the brake led light bulb w/o load resistors caused my cruise control to not work.

One it’s nice to see more led bulbs with Sylvania installations and installed a load equalizer resistor. But why the hell did the owner picked the white led bulbs? Yes it works great. But having a white led bulb behind the red lens is not a true alert. Putting a red led bulb behind the red lens or as they call it, a red filter. Gives a better complete compliant brake light and more more deeper and more vibrant red than ever. I would highly recommend sylvania ZEVO. They are a bit brighter and much better led bulbs than regular led. Plus it’s got a lifetime warranty. And regular led have 1 year warranty.

Get some _real_ bulbs, Sealight, Auxbeam, MAXGTRS, Wenle. Those are pushing 2000 lumens each bulb, with a fan. What you say is true about a red bulb behind a red lens. It gives a deeper, more intense red. A white LED behind a red lens gives a pinkish washed out look to the light.

@@coloradostrong a real led bulb is a real led bulb. I only highly recommend to anyone, that’s lookin for as set it and forget it led bulbs to the best and the brightest led bulbs. For example, my 2015 lifted Scion xB is running the 7443R sylvania zevo red led bulbs. It maybe the same brightness maybe couple hairs more. But the response is a big improvement over stock. But at night time, it’s a major big difference. Especially if u have a polish mirror reflectors behind the red lens with a red zevo led bulb. The brightness and the intensity is perfectly nice. And it matches the brightness with the third brake lights. These are the best on the budget led bulb replacement. Especially with a lifetime warranty. U can’t go wrong with them. And that’s why I bought more sylvania zevo LED’s for my family’s 2017 Toyota sienna le. On top of that, I bought auxito M3 9005 high beams, and lasfit LA plus H11 low beams. And other lasfit t10’s as well. These are my top 3 recommendations. Sylvania zevo, lasfit, and auxito. 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼

One of the main benefits of installing LED lights in your car, etc., is the significantly lower current load on your battery/electrical system. By installing two 24W (e.g. 12V x 6Ω) resistors in parallel on each blinker circuit, you are essentially negating that benefit. This is not the correct procedure, it is simply a "lazy" workaround which actually introduces a safety issue because of the resistors heating up, which then requires that you drill them on to the car's body in order to properly attach the resistors to provide adequate heat dissipation/cooling. Not sure if everybody would be ok with drilling their car for no real benefit at all. Just saying ...
