Thank you I watched so many videos. Your video is the only video that actually helped me. Thanks so much!

Thanks for your very clear explanations. For the second exercise in this video (C13H18O) I found a second answer choice that also correlates with the given spectrum: Benzene-CH2-CH2-CH splits into CH2-CH3 and (C=O)-CH3. Although analyzing the chemical environment, your answer is more related, since the CH2 triplet is the most unprotected and is located further down the field, therefore it would be closer to electronegative oxygen.

your structure would work too.

I'm glad to see this comment since I obtained the same structure, and I was quite a bit sad of it not being correct 😅 It seems like it was actually not that illogical :) 😊

NH sometimes goes up to 13 ppm. Usually in most of the compounds I worked with (isolated from nature or synthesized) it was between 12.4 and 7 ppm.

you got an example for like 13ppm? is it an R=CO-NH2?

@@johannessievers6759 Cannot find just now the example for nearly 13 ppm (I am on holiday now) but you can see one of my papers at web.uni-plovdiv.bg/plamenpenchev/art25.pdf Even my remark I like your channel. Gretings from Bulgaria.

@@plamenpenchev262 ok i guess those NH-proton signals are some of the highest you can find; in literature for learning purposes i recently read about the shift being between 0.5 and 5 .. thx for the link

amine NH and amide NH have very different chemical shifts. Amide NH can be much more deshielded from 7-14 ppm as you've said it.

hi there thanks a lot for this video. for the last question, would it be correct if I switch the position of the -ch2ch3 group and the h in -ch2 attached to the carbonyl? thank you so much!
@chemprodao33822 жыл бұрын
if the CH2CH3 were to connect to the carbonyl (replacing the CH3), we would expect the CH2 to be a quartet with a chemical shift of roughly ~2.1 ppm, which we don't have in the spectra, so it wouldn't work.
