As a stay at home housewife, I too have had a few people ask me "what do you do all day?" I replied with: "I'm a chauffeur, chef, nanny, tutor, teacher, gardener, lawn maintenance professional, personal shopper, financial advisor, investment analyst, hair stylist, interior decorator, accountant, maid, tailor, dog walker, travel agent, sports coach, dry cleaner, nurse, personal assistant, and preacher." I'm glad you were able to show what it's actually like. Great video as usual.

@@geniej2378 When I worked, I hired lawn maintenance ($100 per week), housekeeping ($85 per week), ate take out and packaged foods more often ($200 per week), and pretty much outsourced a lot of other daily tasks ($$$). Now that I'm in charge of and do everything myself, I've actually made more money by being able to save money and put energy, time and money into carefully monitoring all our needs and long term investments ($$$$$$). We've learned to live with less of everything, including stress, and it's been rewarding.

Genie J hey Genie! Your comment is a bit condescending 🤷🏻‍♀️ maybe you don’t mean it this way just what I take from it. As a stay at home mom, with two babies in tow I can say that my lazy side would LOVE to be back at work. Don’t know if you’ve ever been a stay at home parent but it is a heck of a lot of work mentally and physically. Whereas working you get to “clock out” in most instances and go home and decompress from the day as a stay at home parent you are going and going at 100 miles per hour giving your full attention and care to others and usually putting yourself last. Though some people do say all this to complain I am not complaining I just don’t appreciate it when people minimize what a stay at home parent does bc “EVeRyoNe” has to cook, clean, etc. There is so much more to it. (I am a preschool teacher I never clocked out bc I absolutely love my students and most times you can’t just “clock out” from what little Johnny did today that worried mom and I) Also, Sometimes work can be a sort of distraction as well from home life. This is to say you are working a job you find fulfillment in and enjoy what you do.

@@geniej2378 no they don't...many people who work do none of this things....My husband never ever takes care of the laundry, or walks the dog or helps our kids with homework and a loooong list of other things he never does. This kind of question "what do stay at home parents do all day anyway" usually doesn't come from people who work and do all this things anyway but from people who outsource most of this things or have a partner who does them all. A woman who works and also has to take care of many of all this things knows perfectly well that it is a lot of work ..they never ask this question.

@@geniej2378 Well, it is a competition when a working mom turns it into one by asking "what do you do all day"? Or comes at you by saying "I do all that, and work". I'd prefer if working moms not try to make it a competition. I'm not trying to compete, but if the hats are off, I'll state the facts.

I've worked 70 hour work weeks and I've been a stay-at-home mom. At my previous job, I was juggling customer service, shipping and receiving, and technical support, 12-14 hours a day. It was exhausting, and it was so hard to balance my work life and my home life. I was always tired. But when I was home, I was done with work until I went back in. The chores needed to be done but they were less - no one was ever home to mess up the house. We had the money to get lunch and sometimes dinner out, so less cooking and dishes. We might have some errands to run on Saturday but for the most part, our weekends were free and we could relax as a family. As a stay-at-home mom, there is no DONE. Because I'm home with my son, the house is a mess and I never stop cleaning. We don't go out to eat so I have to make everything - I am constantly washing the dishes. All the things that would get done as a team effort on the weekends fall to me alone - chauffeuring our elderly family members to appointments, grocery shopping for my family, car maintenance, etc. My weekends are spent catching up on laundry and dishes while my husband spends time with our son. But I also got decide how I would spend my days, and what I was going to get done. I got to be with my son all day long. Right now I'm doing both - I work overnight 3 days a week and am home with my son during the day (son and husband both have health issues and we don't want to risk daycare). I am always tired. I am always mired in housework. But we can afford to get dinner out once a week. My husband picks up the housework on the nights I work. We have more time together as a family with this arrangement, and it has given me the added benefit of a perspective: Being a parent is hard, period. Whether you are a part of the workforce or a homemaker, you are caring for/providing for your family the very best way you can. Both kinds of parents are doing WORK - the only difference is where you physically/emotionally spend your time. Some of us have more money to provide for our families, and some of us have more time to devote to them - either way, we are giving of ourselves. It costs absolutely nothing to be kind to someone who lives differently than you. Let's stop competing and support one another.

As someone who doesn't have kids yet and grew up with two parents working outside the home, I truly struggle to imagine the insecurity someone would need to have to suggest that stay at home parents do nothing all day. If there weren't things to be done, people wouldn't do it. (and omg you do KZfaq on top of it all!) On a financial note--my parents never budgeted for groceries because both of them worked well paying jobs. However, were one of them to stay home, budgeting and shopping smart/cooking freezer meals/keeping a robust garden/finding deals etc are all things that would contribute immensely to the household. It's its own form of "income," your time is worth money! Loved this video--thanks for "clarifying" what you do all day lol

I read somewhere that if a stay at home parent earned an income based on how much work they do and what they do, they would make about $173,000 a year. I don't know how accurate that number is but after watching this video I believe it. I'm tired from just watching her do all that work

Being a parent IS hard, but if you're including housework and cooking in your definition of "momming," it's a bit of a misnomer. That stuff is just being adult stuff, and depending on kids' ages it's just living in a home stuff. A family is a team, even if there is an agreed upon imbalance of chores. There is still a LOT of miscellaneous stuff to do as a parent, though. Like a ridiculous amount, particularly stuff for school and activities.

I would argue that kids(some more than others) make so much mess and dirt. That it is very much part of mommying to clean more... especially when they don’t go anywhere all day the mess is all at home. It’s just part of the game.

Seriously, my boys are now 20 and 18 and we still put it out every year. It has survived Nerf wars and "Bowling for Wisemen" games. We did lose Joseph several years back. The forensics gave no clue to his disappearance. However, Noah from the Fisher-Price ark was a good stand in for a shepherd who we promoted to Joseph's spot. :-)

I truly enjoy your videos, your sense of humor, your many talents but most of all your incredible devotion to your family. After all of your and your husband's struggles and your collective ability to provide for your family during those tough, lean times, I hope you make a TON of money for the time you invest in this avenue because YOU deserve it. You do not have to explain or justify your time.(period) If anything, we envy your decision and your ability to stay home for your kids! I am so happy to have found your channel! I look forward to your videos because you are an extraordinary and gifted person. I have learned so much from you and appreciate you!

Oh my gosh, I feel the same way about storing stuff spending money on decorations to use for a few weeks. Christmas is the only holiday we decorate for right now. It's so much time, and money, and storing, and moving things around. It drives me crazy. I love the blanket though!

I'm Filipino and now working in Europe and everytime I say my mom is a stay at home mom, I always get asked what she does all day... I feel like stay at home moms have a lot of pressure on them because if "something goes wrong" with the kids, they take it as a reflection of their way to bring up their child or if something goes wrong with the budget, it makes them feel it's because of them as well and for this I have a lot of respect for all stay at home moms. Lots of hardwork and sacrifice goes into it

I wish more people realised that your worth is not defined by your productivity. You don't have to bustle around to be worthy of anything. Christine obviously works really hard, but if she didn't, that would be fine too. The work/income/effort dynamics of your household only have to work for you and your family, you don't owe any of us an explanation for what you do. In saying that the value you contribute to your home with the support, planning, cooking, budgeting, planning etc is evident from anyone who watches your videos, even if it didn't bring it an income

Good morning! Watching your video while cleaning the kitchen and heating up chicken and dumplins for lunch. I didn’t delete Facebook off of my phone, but I put it out of sight and turned off the notifications. Omg. So much happier! I get on maybe two or three times a day on average when I would get on there all day long before and just scroll aimlessly. It’s made such a difference

I have three grown daughters and they loved story time as children and two became avid readers. When it was time to purge the kids books we went through them together and everyone took out their favorites. As their apartments are small I boxed them up for their future kids and put them in their old closets. All the ones no one claimed I donated to the elementary school. Told the front desk personnel to offer to the librarian first and if she didn’t want them to put them in the teachers lounge marked free. She seemed happy to accept them.

I just found your channel late last year. Thank you for all your hard work on and off the channel. Being a mom of four is a job of ❤ love. I'm glad your teaching your children to cook. My cousin instead of taking shop took home ed. The other boys laughed at him, but he had the last laugh. He said, . "I'm in a all girl class and when I leave school, I can cook my own meals. ...now who's laughing.

I am a stay-at-home mother of 6 and homeschool our two oldest children. I am busy all day long without much of a break at all until about 9pm. There is a crap load of stuff to be done every day, especially when you have a bunch of little mess makers you have to keep busy and clean up after all day.

I’ve discovered a roasted marinara recipe that changed my gardening season forever! Chopped tomatoes, olive oil, salt, chopped onion and whole garlic. Roast 400 degrees in a sheet pan about an hour, let cool. Blend in food processor, adding fresh basil and a small can tomato paste for thickness if desired. Freeze in gallon bags. 1 sheet pan gets you a full gallon bag. Seriously easy!

You have some mad typing skillz! I love and appreciate your sense of humor! (Sherona!) The clips you insert here and there make me laugh out loud! I have worked on the tarmac at an airport, retail during Christmas & moonlight madness sales, as a grocery store cashier before the self check-outs and at a sorting facility lifting heavy boxes consistently, among other jobs.....I thought being a SAHM would be easy! I work harder & longer with no "salary" than I did at any of my other jobs!!! The person who asked that question must not have kids. Keeping a house running smoothly & trying to help 4 kids, a husband & myself from going crazy is stinkin' hard.azz.work!!!! Nuff said

As a stay at home mom o would take the comment as an insult. We are a jack of all trades. Oh, we get no breaks, lunch hour, holiday pay, or ANY time off. We are on call 24/7. All families do whatever they have to to make their family work. Working parents or families who chose to have one parent home are fine and owe no on an explanation. You're awesome!!!! Keep doing you!

I was just talking about this to a church friend yesterday. I totally feel you on decorating. Where do I put it? Even if I find a place it starts feeling like clutter in about 2 days.... and I hate storing stuff. We built our house 2 years ago and we don’t have a basement or attic and we have a small storage room... so we don’t store things. If we have it we should use it. That’s my thought. -Lindsay
