Free advice: for those wanting to do the lasagna method, you don’t necessarily need to use full mattress pads. They also make full size “flat” waterproof pads (without the corners) you can use for the top 2 or 3 layers. They’re easier to remove in the middle of the night - just FYI.

A behind the door organizer is GREAT when you have a new baby. Highly recommend getting one for all their brushes, thermometers, suction things, pacifiers. Lotions, etc.

We used a clear pocket shoe door organizer. Have since repurposed it for the pantry then office through our moves. Didn't have drawers but did have a bookshelf with baskets to sort clothing and supplies.

My oldest is 28 years old and watching you set up the baby’s room is bringing back so many memories of when I was young and getting ready for my first baby. The first one is life changing, but in a good way! You will be a great mom, Becky! I hope that you have had a sweet first few weeks bonding with baby A. Been praying for you and Josh. The first year is rough but it it is so worth it! Kids are exhausting but so much fun. I couldn’t imagine my life without my two kids now. They are both adults now (the time goes by so fast!) and it is so rewarding knowing that they are great adults living their best lives!

Becky, and Josh, Congratulations again! It's a wise decision not to have a baby monitor on the internet. I'm glad you made that decision. So many people don't realize how easy it is to breach security on the monitors. I love your baby furniture. In my baby time frame, many years ago, items like what you have the delivery kit was never offered.

I used pillow cases as sheets or covers for my changing pads. Depending on 5he size of your changing pad, you might want to but queen or king sized pillow cases. Also, the tucks wipes/pads are wonderful and comforting. The witch hazel is as an antiseptic and is soothing as well. To get the same effect, and a lot less expensive, you can purchase unscented baby wipes and then pour witch hazel into the unscented baby wipe package and presto you have home made bottom comfort!

I know you will be tired and busy with your newborn and I wouldn’t blame you for not posting any videos for a while. But you are just amazing in providing your subs with amazing content and I don’t care that it’s prerecorded weeks or even months prior, it’s still interesting to me. Wow - awesome set up for Baby A. A few things I would recommend - I would put 1/2 dozen diapers on the top of the changing table - especially with boys - you want that diaper handy!! Also, the waterproof pads I would put under them as they sleep. If they just leak a little tee tee, no reason to change sheets, just change the waterproof pad. The main thing you already have - lots of cuddles and snuggles. So happy for y'all!!

I did the waterproof mats under them as they slept as well…you can position it to being only under their lower half so it is not by their face.

I know Baby Acre has been here for some time but I just have to say---- You handled your pregnancy like a CHAMP!!!! You were able to get so much accomplished while pregnant (I just wanted to lay around like a beached whale!!) and you seem to have thought everything out so well considering it was your first time. Best of luck for a smooth delivery!!! So excited for you guys! Depending on size of the baby, I usually put a larger size diaper on for over night. New born diapers were often too small, especially for little boys. It's nice to have the cut out for umbilical cord healing but often not absorbent enough. Not sure if anyone mentioned this, but I have 3 boys. When changing baby boys -make sure their penis is pointing downward and not upward when you close up the new diaper. If it's upward the urine flow goes straight up and make leak out causing a very wet belly. The bigger size diaper at night would help prevent leaks so I had to change the sheets and baby clothes at night less often. When I had to change the baby's clothing it would wake the baby up and then going back to sleep was an issue.

Love the baby bedroom set. Recommend that you get the nightstand that matches now because companies discontinue the sets buy the time you will be ready to convert the crib to a bed. My daughter came across this issue a few years ago. I searched everywhere, but no luck! The conversion bed and dresser was available still, but was told that the nightstand was sold out and the company would not make anymore.

Bec, I love what you said about matching socks!🧦When my Precious Daughter started suffering with depression due to being an incredible perfectionist, (so bad she had multiple breakdowns trying to cope) her Doctor told her to find one thing that she could not be so fussy about and something that would make her smile or laugh. Then one day she was running late for Uni and she was trying to match her sock but couldn't, so she put odd socks on and through the day when she would look down at her feet she would start laughing - so that became her thing!👍 The other day I noticed her 3 year old had put on different socks, I couldn't stop laughing Maddy looked up at me and said like Mummy and Daddy!💙❤️ So Josey said to me well Mama our Family never has odd socks now, according to Hubby, Maddy and I all our socks match!👍I love that even in our hardest moments if we can look past the imperfections we can not just love life but thrive!🙏 I am so happy for your little Family of 3 may God Bless and Keep You all. ❤️💙💛💜💚

I am so happy and excited for you guys! I recommend adding a “designated distraction” to the changing table lol. Could be a stuffy or a cool rattle that makes noise, just in case baby is crying or fussy during changes it may make your life a lot less stressful!

@@donna4815 My first I had 39 yrs ago,and he was in a dresser drawer,that had a pillow for a mattress, and a pillowcase for a sheet for his first 2 days till I could get his crib together. Alot of the conveniences these new Mama's have weren't around in those days.

@@donna4815 The swing I was handed down was a regular small-scale type with a bar across the top, not the open ones they have today. My boy was huge as a baby (22" and 8 pounds 6 oz at birth) and even at 18 months he wore a 4T, but he got stuck in the swing, his head wouldn't clear the bar because the swing moved as I tried to lift him out. Ended up calling my mother to walk over (Blessed to live right beside my mom out in the country) and hold the swing so he could come out without hitting his head. Nothing like the new stuff for postpartum, 30 years ago! Especially for a c-section and very sore nipples.

I do too! My first baby was born through emergency C-section, but after my second, I couldn't walk for 3.5 weeks. I think about how nice just those small ice packs alone would have been back then. Postpartum care products have come a long way!

Congratulations again! Yes, babies spend most of their time in sleepers through the winter. Also don’t take tags off of all your clothes until you need them. You’d be surprised how they will outgrow them so fast, plus you can exchange some of them for what you need. That goes for diapers also.

You are so very lucky (as I'm sure you are well aware) to have someone as thorough as Josh. That man can literally do anything. Remodeling the house, carpentry and now being so sweet as to sterilize the bottles. Cleaning out the garage for the cars. I also have a man that is just as good as Josh. Over the years, I don't know what I would have done without him. He is "my person". I am sure Josh is being such a wonderful support for you and the new baby boy. As much as it is hard being a first time mom, enjoy every single moment of this special time. They grow up so freaking fast, I can barely remember those first few months. Mine are all grown and married now and having families of their own. We just found out our youngest and his wife are expecting their first baby next summer. This will be our first grandchild that we will know from birth. We have another grandson that came into our family at 6 yo. Thank you for the effort you have put into all these pre-recorded videos. I know it couldn't have been easy 9 months pregnant and trying to do all this work. Congratulations to you and Josh on your new arrival! Look forward to him being introduced on the vlog.

I didn’t learn this until recently but were suppose to take our kitchenaids apart and oil them every 5 years or so. Thankfully mine isn’t that old yet and I’m glad I saw that on one of roots and refuge’s videos recently. I found myself smiling cause I could hear the newborn sleepiness in your momma voice. LOVE the diaper genie❤ I think of it more as a necessity than luxury😉 Another luxury item I loved was the wipee warmer. Takes a little bit of the drama out of diaper changes if baby is not startled by a cold wipee.

I hope that someone in your family might loan you a rocker or a glider (my favorite!). I remember walking for hours, holding my baby at night when they didn’t feel well. When my daughter had her first baby, someone gave her a glider & when I sat in it I was amazed at how calming it was to both the baby (my grandchild) & me! IMO, a glider (or rocker) is one of the top essential needs for a new mom!

Or glider chair is a good option too. But you want a place that works for you and Josh when bottle or breast feeding them late at night. As they get older make a great place to read books to your young child from. Or a place to rock or glide to sooth them and yourself. Place a little table for your tea and lamp by the chair. I would also suggest a clock and book/ toy shelves would be a few more things you could add to the room.

Just wanted to let you know I made your oatmeal fudge bars today so that we had something homemade to leave for Santa tonight. They are so delicious! The cookie part is not overly sweet and tastes great with the ooey-gooey fudge layer. I love them, and hope Santa does, too! There are nine of us in the house, and there will be no sharing with anyone who doesn't live here (besides Santa) - lol! Hope you're all doing well, and I wish you a blessed holiday season!

Congratulations on your sweet new baby! I suggest a laundry delicates bag for all of the socks and mittens. I just hung it on the inside of the hamper and tossed the bag in the wash with the rest of baby's clothes! Also those little gown sleepers are great for night time when you don't want to fumble with snaps and zippers for changing. You'll find all of your own favorite "mom hacks" in time!

Baker tip! Add your vanilla to the eggs and have them sit out while you mix the other ingredients - there’s some chemistry that happens and deepens the flavor!

Great job Becky on the baby’s room organization. The room and furniture are so nice and all ready for baby. One suggestion. On the baby’s bassinet hang a tote bag of some kind with extra diapers, wipes, and a couple extra onesies so when you are moving baby around the house with you you’ll have everything you need. I think I would purchase a rug for baby’s room. It will be a soft place to put them down besides the crib and comfy on your feet.

That little piece of butter that was left was a perfect heart! Random thing to notice but, 🤷🏽‍♀️. Lol. I’m so happy to be back and able to watch your videos. I was randomly hospitalized on thanksgiving with a severe case of necrotizing soft tissue and almost died! The positive thing is that I’m alive and home (finally!) and healing quickly! I love watching new moms prepare for their first baby Looking at how exciting and new everything is. I am pregnant with baby 6. I am jaded. Hahahaha I don't prep for anything other than packing a hospital bag. Also, all of my babies have slept with a blanket. Don't let people shame you for using a blanket if you choose to.

I love the simplicity of baby’s room, once he is able to interact more with sights and sounds etc you can add things to the room, I love the furniture that Josh chose it looks stylish and will grow with baby ❤️❤️

The sleeper gowns and long sleeve onsies are my favorite 2 things for newborns. They are cute and practical. The full body onsies are great too! God bless!

I have 4 boys,so here are my recommendations for you to take or leave.😊… 1) Baby boys love to potty on you as soon as you take that diaper off! 😂 Something I learned early on, keep little wash cloths with the diaper changing things. Stick one on baby while cleaning him up, so you don’t get a face full! 😂 2) My sweet baby boys lived in those non footed gowns for 3 to 4 months, when home. So much easier to change those blowouts that ALWAYS happen! 😂 My winter baby just wore socks to keep is tootsies warm. 😊 3) Keeping snacks and water next to wherever I was nursing was a game changer! Also a phone charger and a book. 4) A swing or vibrating bouncing seat was a huge blessing! You’ve got this Momma!

A small canvas rectangle basket for your baby helps a lot. We did it for my grandson in our living room and it was amazing. We kept a small stack of diapers, wipes, butt cream, passies and mittens. Absolutely loved it being so convenient ❤ Im so happy for you and Josh

I recently learned a hack about baby wipes. Storing them upside down so the moisture will settle at the top and when you flip them to use them the moisture will go back to the bottom making sure you don't have dry wipes at the top of your pack!! Your nursery turned out great! Congratulations on the birth of your baby!!! Hope you all are well!

Congratulations Becky and Josh! I wanted to talk to you about the ‘potato patties’. That’s the name my mother gave them. So this is a real old recipe in our family. It’s one of those that is not written down. Just a bit of this and a bit of that. Basically this is how I make them…for about 4-6 I add 1 egg, 1/4c flour, grated cheddar cheese to taste. Of course you can add anything that suits you. Enjoy.

Tucks pads were everything for me when I had my daughter. And that was 30 years ago! I felt great except for the episiotomy, the Tucks pads took care of that! I was so grateful for them lol

My best advice is to take time to breathe in your sweet boy, and to enjoy falling in love with Josh all over again as he falls in love with being a dad. This whole family thing is such a blessing, and looking back the 40 years since my first baby, I am still in awe of the gift of it all. Your household chores will always be there, but this is such a precious time….. soak it in!

My first baby came one month early! Can you imagine?!? I was very nervous, but it all worked out. I loved my slider chair! The newborn stage goes by so fast - I had a hard time appreciating it because it was all so new. Grandmas get it! I hope your mom and MIL are there for you and baby A! Thanks for the videos!

You and Josh will be awesome parents 🥰. I used the one piece outfits on all my babies at first. We call them sleepers … I had saved a few of each of their baby clothes which were stored in the attic when the house fire happened 😢 … I really enjoyed hanging out with you in the baby’s room 😊. It means a lot to all ages but us that have grown up children and grand babys , it was a trip down memory lane too. The potatoe cakes- the rolling them in flour,, I put a little salt, pepper and paprika in the flour then the potato cakes are oozing with crusty flavour. Yummmm. CanNOT wait to meet baby acre ♥️♥️😊

Becky something that was a great help when I had my baby was to get small baby hangers and I hung all the clothes for the different sizes and it was easier to see what I still needed to buy for that size. If you have a friend with a Cricut ask them to make you different sizes for you and you hang it on the first hanger with the relevant size. Also have all of your products you use for baby as you will dress baby on the changing mat. This is for when you have bathed baby. Another tip get Josh to sterilise the pacifier as he did the teats from the bottles. On Amazon get a pacifier container so that you have a spare with you at all times. Sometimes if the pacifier drops out you just give baby the clean pacifier. Hope this helps you with a few tips.

With my first son I only had a diaper pail, 10 yrs later I had my second son and got the diaper genie…..life saver!!! That bassinet is amazing!! The boppy for nursing will be your best friend!! I LOVED mine!!
