Went to sign up, had to reset my password because I'd forgotten it, then realised I was already signed up! Story of my life lol 😆 Talking of superpowers & manifestation, my friend said I started the pandemic! A couple of months before, my front tooth broke & I couldn't find a dentist, I was talking to my friend & I said I was thinking about wearing a mask but didn't want to look like a weirdo, then I said I wish something happened where it was normal to wear masks, like they do in some Asian countries. Within a couple of months, everyone was wearing masks! Because of that, my friend thinks I manifested the whole thing! Pretty sure I'm not that powerful 😷😳😆😂

It's a constant chore, to take things out, and put them back again, (my weakness,) to declutter by getting rid of anything that you do not need, doing dishes after a meal rather than later when it will be more of a chore! It's really about maintaining good habits, not to mention, vacuuming often, dusting, etc. I try to do these things because, "my home is my castle."

I was up until 11 pm last night doing my dishes. I had fallen asleep in the evening after dinner, but I was up again after 9 pm, and I saw the dirty dishes. I contemplated just leaving them until morning. My husband even suggested the same. But I said no. I had to go to bed with a clean kitchen because I need the kitchen in the morning to be clean and ready to make breakfast. Plus, I absolutely hate to start my day with dirty dishes. When they were clean and my counters were cleaned off, I went to bed. Feels so good!

I love this! One thing that I heard a few years ago that has helped me tidy up was the 'touch it once' idea. Example: When you finish your cup of coffee, put the cup in the dishwasher. Otherwise, you will put it on the table, then the counter, and finally the dishwasher. TOUCH IT ONCE! To reinforce this when I first started, I would say out loud, Touch it Once, when I noticed myself just dropping the item down instead of just putting it away. Has changed my house immensely!

I just discovered your channel as I was procrastinating reading a 100 page report that's due in an hour. I live in a home with an Autistic son, ADD husband and two severely ADHD daughters. My existence is chaotic and messy and honestly downright depressing. I'm a slave to this house, no matter how many hours go into cleaning and trying to train my children to use the organization methods I've put into place, I don't remember the last time I could sit back and enjoy a completely clean home in the evening. I was only a couple of minutes into this video when I felt such a connection to you and your story. THANK YOU SO MUCH for your honesty and for sharing what works for you. I just turned 40 and hit a "something has to change" meltdown point in my life and I didn't know how, just that I can't go on like this. I look forward to implementing your ideas in my own life.

I used to be super organized & tidy, then I moved into a new home, fell into depression & anxiety & 10yrs later, I am finally trying to regain my footing. I’m working on the theory that if I bring something in, something has to go out. And the biggest thing I’m working on/struggling with is living within my means & allowing my space to dictate what I can & can’t have. It’s not always easy but when I do it, I feel wonderful & that pushes me to make something else a healthier space. Thanks for all your tips & for being real with all of us. 😊

For me, the challenge with dishes is the concept that they're not really done until they are dried and put away. I wouldn't leave clean laundry in the basket and it's the same concept with dishes. And having a clear dish drying rack makes doing that next round of dishes so much easier to start.

I try to think of it like a spinning wheel instead of "done" and "not done". If I just keep the cycle going, I'm doing well. Kind of like walking past the wheel and giving it a shove. If I wash the dishes, I did awesome! The wheel is spinning! Now they're put away, great! Now they're out on the table with food on them, good job! Now the table is cleared and the dirty dishes have moved to the counter, very appropriate! And now I'm washing them, like a champ! It helps me feel satisfied, even when things don't look tidy. As long as there's nothing pushed to the side "soaking" because I'm scared to deal with it, then I'm spinning the wheel properly. When I tried to feel rewarded by having a clean kitchen, I hated cooking because it's just making a mess, undoing all my work! Now I am just spinning the wheel, as was my goal.

Loved your story. There is a convenient store on the corner from my house. It has a bell that rings whenever the door is opened and closed. The clerks have commented to me on many occasions that it doesn't ring when I go in and out. If my kids are with me it rings. But if it is just me, no. It is so weird but true for years now. You probably have a much softer touch with the door. Do you hold onto doors as they close or do you swing them shut or just let them slam? Slamming doors and even a hard closing was a pet peeve of my mum’s. If we allowed doors to make loud noises while closing, my mum would make us close the door 10 times in a row properly. Properly meant she wasn’t disturbed by the sound. I’m a quiet closer to this day and now I’m the one being driven nuts by loud doors.

I have a an 'energy' that kills watches and makes electronics glitch. It's so frustrating since all our house 'things' are 'smart'. So about 30 percent of the time it takes about 3 times to put the code in my door to unlock it and get in because it hates me. Lol. Then to lock it I have to tap it about 10 times and one of my kids comes up, and bam, done. Cell phones.....ugh. I touch them and things pop up, freeze, scroll like crazy when I didn't want to, and just generally screw up. I feel it's just how electricity works in my body, as I don't believe in superpowers, etc🤪😅

I recently got to the point where my hard decluttering work paid off, and it amazed me to learn that everything you say in this video is 100% true!! I live alone, so I don't have help with the cleaning, and I was at the point where my whole life outside of work was trying to catch up with the cleaning. I was exhausted and miserable, because who wants a life that's just work and cleaning? I never had the energy to do the things that make me happy. And I live in a small apartment (548 sq.ft. studio) and I just knew it had to be better than it was, so I started ruthlessly decluttering. It took a few weeks, but then one day it just all clicked together. I knew on a theoretical level that a clean space was easier to maintain, but this is the first time in my whole life that I've actually been at the point of experiencing it. My laundry is getting folded and put away on laundry day. My kitchen is amazingly clean. I feel so much more at peace. And on bad days, like this past Saturday I was fighting a migraine, I was able to easily get back on track on Sunday because I was ahead of the mess, not struggling with everything I had just to keep up with being behind. My kitchen has always been my biggest failing, and when you say that a messy kitchen is the start of the avalanche, it's even more true in a studio apartment where the kitchen is never hidden away behind a door or wall.

I love your videos! Your stories at the end make you so relatable. Can I offer a humble suggestion? On several recent videos I heard you lament a little that you feel like you're saying the same things over and over -- but for someone like me who hasn't mastered these skills yet -- every time you say it, you say it a little differently, and every time you organize a space, the space is a little different, and those little differences give me new insights and realizations. They allow me to see the same principle in slightly different applications and adaptations, and in those differences, I can better see how it applies to my own situation. I know you said your views aren't doing so well, and when you need a break, I hope you're able to take one, but you are so loved because 1) you're dealing with a very REAL need, 2) you're extremely likeable, personable, and relatable. I hope you can take confidence in the idea that we still need to hear what you have to say in EVERY variation that you can possibly say it. I can only imagine the incredible amount of work it takes to run a channel as successful as yours. You're doing such a great job.

I FeeL personally it's different for everyone and their mindset... I have a family of 7 and my home was always tidy + I homeschool, I had hand-me-downs for 5 kids, ages 0 to 18+ but I had a system! I can manage alot of things because of how I manage or "bugdet" my time. I had books, toys, games, clothes, movies, shoes, paperwork, dishes because I cooked or made everything at home, etc... but it was how I used my time & trained the kids... I also help friends & family organize & clean their homes for fun, I hope to actually run a business doing it one day! Some people have busy lives and too much stuff for how busy they are. Other people just don't like lots of stuff even if they have time... I picture that if a library & stores can function and operate its about management & staff, not stuff! But knowing what you can manage is important! You just need to know how you're life needs to function! But most of us can definitely part with stuff! P.s. I also did a ton of activities outside the house and field trips often & organized and planned field trips & parties at my house, the lock down & a new baby stopped much of that & I am just now getting things back in order... long story to tell...

My daughter is donating half of her books...I have been trying so hard to get them on board and finally! Thank you Cas! You are welcome to come and help me declutter the rest of this place anytime. Any. Time. Florida is calling. The Hurricane is gone. Come on down. This ladybug still has a long way to go, but she and her family are baby stepping. :) People identify with you because you are one of us. Big hugs!

Cas, I have really enjoyed your videos. I've been struggling for years as I have tried to get away from domestic violence and overcome homelessness. During these times everything, minus furniture was placed in a storage unit. During that time my grandmother's both past, my uncle and mom. And their belongings also were stored in my storage unit. I have three children and everything in there is what we packed in dec. 2017. Before we fled. I have CPTSD and going through items really trigger more than what most can fathom. However, it still needs done. so slowly, but surely..... Going through everything has been quite emotional and also exciting. Oh the treasures that have been found. Problem is I no longer own a three bedroom house. I rent a room and live in an old r.v. I am renovating. So long story short, your videos are really helping me slowly but surely regain my life back. And I confess...I am a bee. I like to micro, be visual and have lots of hobbies. It's a LOT of work. The hardest thing for me is moving to the next task, feeling like I didn't complete the last one, just because it wasn't done to my expectations or Invisions. (or got too emotional from what the items are) And like everyone else finding time in their busy schedule (Mom of three and a student). And I just want to thank you for your videos. They help and mean a lot. 💜

The first truth was what I had to learn. But even though I am not there yet the journey I started since watching your videos has completely transformed my life. I am less stressed on a daily basis. The other night I finished cleaning up from dinner and looked at the clock and was like ummmm it's not even 7pm? I used to be stressed trying to cook and pretend to clean and 9pm nothing s done I'm exhausted and would just leave it for the next day,. Mind you I'm a single mom who works 10-12 hours a day as well as everything at home by myself. Now everything is less and I have more, time that is. Time to just be and I can't thank you enough for being real and inspiring me and others. Your videos are my motivation . When I'm not in the mood KZfaq goes on my TV and I start watching your videos and all of a sudden I'm up and moving.

I just returned home from an extended vacation, so home needed desperate cleaning. I had been taking my time doing it & then the hurricane was imminent! I'm on the east coast, I got a message at 7 am that family were coming from the west coast, & for t hff e next 7 hours, I barely stopped , trying to get the rest of the cleaning done. I was exhausted! I kept telling myself " never again, I will never leave it like this" Well, that company decided to hunker down in their home, & I was feeling great that it had motivated me into the clean! Love & behold at midnight, I received a call from someone else who was looking for shelter & I was able to accommodate them, but kept berating myself that I hadn't been on top of everything since my return home a week & half ago! Lesson learned, and this video just reinforced it for me, so thank you!

Omg! I’m a minute and a half in and I already need to comment a thank you so much!!! I work so hard everyday to manage clutter whilst living in a small space and I get so hard on myself thinking I’m lazy. What I really have is a fear of letting things go- things that make no sense to keep, especially because I like to craft so I see everything as possibly having utility. I have bins full of random, seemingly useless, stuff (and a lot has come in handy for projects which increases me to keep more). I like to think of the 90’s show ‘Out of The Box’ from when I was a kid… or even the part of Barney the Dinosaur episodes when they would go into a bin and take out random objects ‘to see what they could make’ (they sing a song while looking in the bin and now I’m now playing that song in my head😂). But it’s such a paradox because here I am so creative and make wonderful crafts and art projects but I can’t think clearly in a cluttered and unkept living space; so then I never do creative projects anymore! 🤦🏻‍♀️ Such a catch 22! I am so grateful for your channel 💜

I think it's extra hard for creative people because we see all the possibilities, like that candle jar--Ooh, this could be so cool as... What I've found helps me is to ask myself, when I start down that path, "Yes, I could make X out of this thing, but will I?" 99% of the time the answer is no, so it no longer matters how cool it could be.

I’m the same way I see potential projects in everything and hate waste. I have given myself 2 bins to fill only for the best out of these items and decluttered the rest because I forget what I have and get so overwhelmed with the mess. It’s working out so much better and I’m actually getting around to making them now. So much more enjoyable too without an overwhelming space 😊

My solution to “this could be useful” tendency to keep too many project ingredients is my husband. He has a hard limit and if I haven’t made something within 3 months, he tosses the containers, bits & bobs out. I don’t like it, especially when I have a fabulous idea too late, but I have to compromise. I think we have to start making stuff out of our own trash. Organization and tidiness are certainly an ideal but aren’t we really just transferring our clutter elsewhere? I think it’s really dumb to throw away or recycle a bunch of containers and then buy a bunch of containers to house our stuff. An example is vases. Why should I ever buy a vase when I get so many glass jars every week with my groceries? I actually use jars for drinking glasses too. Amazing how many people look down on this. But one, I like to drink out of large glasses, two, I actually like the way grocery jars look better than most made for the purpose glassware, three, I save money, and four, I’m never fussed when one accidentally breaks because there will be an essentially free replacement the next time I shop. Btw, jar lids make excellent coasters. The conflict comes from me not upcycling packaging fast enough. Design work takes me a long time. But as I was typing this it occurs to me that I can compromise more by not collecting containers while I think. But I think better in 3D with an object actually in my hands. Still I think there’s a way of making my husband even happier. So many crafters buy craft blanks or items from dollar stores when we could apply the same skills to the packaging that our consumable groceries come in.

I live in South Africa and we have something called loadshedding. The long and short of it is that we don't have enough electricity for the entire country so they (the power company) switch off your town's electricity at certain times depending on the demand. There are days where we are without power for 7.5 hours a day divided into 2.5 hour stretches. The planning and speed cleaning skills you need is next level. I couldn't help but think of that during the last part of the video. 😂
