Dear Cas, Please don't use red-dyed hummingbird nectar because it can be harmful. Most feeders have red on them to attract the hummers. You can buy clear or make your own: Combine a ratio of 4 parts water to 1 part table sugar. (Never use honey, molasses, or artificial sweeteners or dyes). Bring the water to a boil to break down the sugar completely. Once the mixture is cool, fill the feeders. Refrigerate what you don’t use between fillings.

and change it often... IDK if thats daily or every other day?
@donnamikolai740
@donnamikolai740 Ай бұрын
@@minimaladjacent - How often should I empty and clean the feeder? The National Audubon Society recommends: ANSWER: In hot weather, the feeder should be emptied and cleaned twice per week. In cooler weather, once per week is enough. If your hummingbirds empty the feeder with greater frequency, clean it every time it’s empty. Cleaning with hot tap water works fine, or use a weak vinegar solution. Avoid using dish soaps, as this can leave harmful residue in the feeder.
@lauramonson5182
@lauramonson5182 Ай бұрын
Boiling sugar water in the microwave has 2 downsides...it boils over easily and makes a sticky mess & moving a hot glass is tricky ...An easier way to make hummingbird nectar is to fill a quart/ glass jar about 1/4 full of sugar then top with boiling water and stir... especially easy if you have a kettle that boils water...I can make 4 at a time and leave them to cool out of the way... also...tap your feeders often to remove bubbles and let more sugar water drop... and if your water turns cloudy it needs to be changed

I don’t know if anyone else had mentioned this, but on the garlic peeling- that knife that you had sitting on your cutting board can instantly peel the garlic if you smash the blade sideways against the garlic clove. The peel separates in one quick “pow” . No need to wait 15 seconds for the microwave.

So what the first comment meant was that you need food on them to use them. Don’t just leave them in there with no food on them for the next time you use the air fryer because usually you forget they are in there and then hit preheat and it can start a fire. They work great. I love them! But you just need to only put them in the air fryer when you are about to put food on them…..and when the food is done cooking, be sure to throw the liner away (if not a reusable one). And don't put a new empty one in until you are ready to cook more food again. Hope that made sense.😂

Yeah, it does. But it contains petroleum, which I get more & more sensitive to as the years go on. So if it irritates my nose & lungs, I can only imagine how it affects birds & other pets. My deepest sympathies for the passing of your grandma. Her namesake hurricane made landfall next to my town and we were on the edge of the eyewall. Our area and our property were ripped to shreds. This area lost tons of huge, old trees including live oaks and pecans. It was devastating. We will be in recovery mode for months. Just got internet again yesterday after 16 days without and we sure missed Clutterbug. May you find comfort in your memories of your grandmother.

I'm impressed! Never thought about using the pot lid to squeeze the contents of the sauce bag out.

My cat kept tipping over that fountain. I now have an Elfin fountain-easier to clean and works semi-similar in keeping water clean. And Justin hasn’t tipped it over yet.

Sonnet me get rhis straight...your cat turns the bow of water over??? I have been a cat mama for over 30 years and never not once had a cat do that....until 5 years ago when this precious kitten came up and my husband took him in. He is the absolute worst at this. Every. Single. Day. My husband recently bought yet another non slip bowl and he did all the catath and finally figured out how to move this one. If this is what you are talking about please respond and idc how much I have to pay for a bowl. Our poor doggy has her own bowl of water when she goes to bed with me at night. She won't drink out of HIS bowl because he bathes in it and cat litter comes off his paws. We have a litter robot downstairs so he has to come back upstairs to the main level for his water. You'd think all the litter would be off by then.

I discovered an amazing window washing hack: I usually clean my windows (at least some of them, because it seemed easier) with a squeegee using a product called Squeegee Off. When doing spring cleaning this year, I discovered I could just dip my regular old terry cloth washcloth in the bucket, wash the window, and them dry it with a regular old terry cloth washcloth! It worked great: It was super fast and left no streaks whatever. I did my double patio doors in about 2 minutes!

I do it this way too except i use a sponge. I use a very tiny amount of soap on the sponge and wash the window then dry. They sparkle. No equipment needed. Usually i don’t even use a bucket. I just wet the sponge in the sink once per window. Works fantastic.

By the way the trick for the hummingbird food is use hot water to begin with and it only takes a few seconds for the sugar to dissolve instead of using cold water and having to heat up the whole pan

Yup! I use an electric kettle to heat the water to boiling, then pour *just* enough water into the sugar to dissolve it completely, then top it off with cold water.

I am very impressed with tip to use the pan lid to help you squeeze the stuff out of a packet. That was amazing & so easy.

I definitely need footage of you all out in a dinghy in the backyard finding those fish! About thirty odd years ago, we had a bad storm which rained frogs here in the UK - watching the back lawn bounce and croak was probably one of the most terrifying things I witnessed as a kid!
