they repeat the numbers 17, 15, 13 because there you have 2 nuts opposite each other and therefore need 2 wrenches. If you only buy 1 set, you can still loosen or tighten these sets of bolts

You should do metric on one side of the drawer and SAE on the other

Awesome job Matt. I like to do metric up front with toolgrid in the drawer since most cars are all metric.

I have yet to order any tool grid stuff and start playing with it. But I’m already happy to hear that the other boards don’t interlock: I was planning to put them in a cabinet and then mount handles to them so I can just lift them out and take them to where I’m working.

Just my 2 cents, I feel like cabinets are only going to be a better bang for your buck option if you either own the business/building or it's a personal garage that you own. I would assume like 80% of mechanics or people that work with tools everyday can not have cabinets installed because they work for someone who owns the business/building and there always exists the possibility they could NOT work there in the future. Hence why the tool box is better option for the majority of people.

If you are in a situation where you know you won't be in the same location for an extended period of time, obviously a cabinet installation won't be the best option for you. However, there are people with home garages or professional shops that don't need to worry if they will still be in the same place 3 or 4 years from now. A cabinet installation works perfectly for them. Mechanics in corporate owned shops aren't the only people in the world who use tools daily.

@@ObsessedGarage oh I’m not disagreeing with the fact that a cabinet setup is probably an awesome option for the home garage. Or if you own your own shop. But how many employers do you actually think would be cool with an employee “installing” a cabinet system into a building that probably a vast majority of the business owners don’t even own. I would be willing to bet that there are more people who use tools in buildings that they have no stake in or are rented/leased than there is in buildings that are owned. Sometimes it may make sense absolutely. But I personally feel that the guy that works for a business with his toolbox, heavily outweighs the guy that thinks in his mind that they are never going to move their stuff from that place.

Cabinets will never hold up over time for someone who uses the tools. My toolbox weighs thousands of pounds gets hit with oils and solvents, not to mention the oil I put on my tools. I built custom shelving around the shop to hold the thousands of pounds of parts I hoard. They don't sell cabinets to do that, although warehouse shelving works nicely and I do have a bit of that.

personally if it was me i would've made the metric go opposite , smaller to larger rather than larger to smaller, next to its counter part to me it would be more aesthetically pleasing to the eye

Cost 8000 and worth 8000 are two different tales . After almost 10 years using snapon tools in a professional setting I'm definitely finding all of the weak links and I'm not able to justify their insane prices anymore . So many other brands that do it better for cheaper

Matt mentioned in this video that this toolbox giveaway is open to Canada (except Quebec) and the USA? In the official rules, it states USA only. Why the change for this giveaway compared to the others in the past that were open to Canadians?

Matt any reason you went with the 0 degree non ratcheting combination wrenches vs the 15 degree reversible combination ratcheting wrenches? Apart from maybe the reversible ratcheting ones having the “Flank/Skank drive plus feature” lol and the non reversible 0 degree wrenches being the standard “Flank drive”? Thanks

Snap-On wrenches are way overpriced; If you want American, Williams Supercombo, Wright WrightGrip, or Proto are where I would spend my money. Heck, I would probably go to all of those before Snap-On, though the current ractchet internal design for Snap-On (Dual 80) is hard to beat mechanically - one of the few areas they actually have innovated in recent years.

Some copycats that try and sell the same products that OG markets while providing zero value to the industry. OG found pressol and brought them to the US, a copycat in the UK called Yum Cars sells them there, and now clean garage is buying them from Yum and redistributing them. They sell them for the same price as OG, you should honor the source.

I shut both of them down. I don’t think Yum Cars means to do it. He just doesn’t know any better. He uses my exact words and holds himself out as the source. He would email me looking for approval. I finally had to tell him what he was doing wasn’t cool. I guess that gave him the permission he needed to sell to the worst of American retail. Josh at The Clean Garage is the classic example of the worst outcomes of capitalism. He’s the guy that cuts in line and enjoys the fight from someone that calls him out. You can’t beat guys like that. When you lack a moral compass, it’s easy to do that.
