Origami Jumping T-rex That Does Tricks!

[Rather Simple] How to fold a T-rex that jumps and does dinosaur aerobics! The tricks are interspersed throughout the tutorial. Near the end of the video I show several methods/tips for how to get it to jump. Special for my members, as featured in the intro, I designed a Jumping Kangaroo. Here's the background story to how I ended up designing a Jumping Dinosaur and a Jumping Kangaroo: At the July 2022 JSO Western Hemisphere Livestream (afternoon of Saturday July 30th), member, Nico, requested that I try to design a Jumping Kangaroo. I tried it but failed. Instead I ended up with a bad-looking dinosaur that didn't even jump. After the livestream I spent about four hours on my own trying to design a jumping kangaroo and finally managed to come up with a jumping kangaroo I was hoppy with. I successfully taught it at the Eastern Hemisphere livestream (Sunday 12am). Since I had also tried to make a jumping T-rex and failed at that too, a couple days later I started trying in earnest to design a jumping dinosaur to hopefully publish as my weekly public tutorial, and it took me several days and at least 30 attempts before I was satisfied enough to teach it. I still think there's room for improvement on this model and I invite you, my viewers, to try to figure out how to get it to look better or jump better, or to try to design and entirely different origami jumping dinosaur.

Hope you all have fun folding and playing with this model. Here's one last tip just for all you comment readers... To get T-rex's back to close better, as shown in the thumbnail, you could wetfold it and use paper clips and string, or you can do what I did and push the model into a tight tube overlapping the two edges that run from head to tail (so it looks like a burrito). Then, let go and the top will probably open back up, but it will be at least more closed than before. Repeat until the two top edges are satisfactorily touching when you let go, like in the thumbnail.

A jumping frog origami was one of the first ones I was taught how to make as a kindergartener, so getting to see a jumping t-rex and a jumping kangaroo is incredibly joyous.

normally when you are able to fold at least one origami which the level is complex, don’t celebrate yet because you still have to fold other complex origami models to be able to go to the next level. Btw it is funny how i was able to fold an origami nail clipper he designed which is “complex” but i couldn’t fold one of his models which says “intermediate”

@@jeremyshaferorigami i had trouble with the 4 locking rings because the rings keep on unlocking even though i folded the edges a bit to make it lock better. Any ideas?

I loved this model and all of the other ones that are made especially the flickers and flashers. One thing I find amazing is that one price of paper can turn into such an amazing thing. Continue doing your best on making these models and are really fun to fold.

Thanks, PortalCeller500 for the tips. I do try to follow trends when I can (AKA Fidget Spinner, Among Us, Daikshi, Pop-it) but I guess I could use more # links and I could do a better job filling in the other social medias like Instagram and Tiktok. Where do you suggest I put the # links. I already usually put 3 in the descriptions of my videos because those automatically get featured under the video. But I guess I could put more than three, for better SEO??? Any specific tips or recommendations from any of my viewers are much appreciated.
