Dude, ive rewatched this so many times.. yet over the years im STILL amazed that he just one-ups himself by playing it faster than the record.. what a fucking king..

I just watched the drum talk video he did, in which he said something like "stick to the basics ...singel foot blasts at 260bpm" XD

I notice that Origin and Cattle Decap play their songs faster live than on record

John is the only drummer at this level that I know that goes flying finger and wrist technique at same fucking time. Mostly I envy his serenity while playing.

the stamina he has is unreal, he can play this fast for a solid hour, also he has a beautiful fills taste and touch, a real musician

I think Jan Benkwitz aka Blastphemer is also fucking great with the flying finger and wrist technique.

What has Jan been up to? It's been years since I've heard about any of his work.

I talked to him about 3-4 months ago and he said that he didn´t had a basement to practice at the moment....:(

Exactly, you can see how he just takes full advantage of the rebound and doesn't hit very hard, but very consistant, only making powerfull rimshots at the last stroke before a full stop. I think most drummers will understand how he's doing this (playing like this and this fast), just by looking at his playing, but actually doing it is so very difficult. This guy doesn't seize to amaze me.

@@joericaluwaerts5474 people who teach others how to do it do it wrong. Look up gravity blast tutorial and see how many people do it wrong. To clarify, look at the forearm muscle by the biceps of theirs. Activation of that is not ergonomically correct

He's not a machine! A human like the rest of us. A prime example of dedication and hard work, the culmination of years of practice, how to incorporate many advanced techniques (double strokes, Moeller, etc. etc.) into a whole drummer, with feel and creativity. No machine could do this.

Way faster than Kollias, you gotta be kidding man. Kollias' footwork is still far superior to Jon's. The only thing Jon does in fact play faster is the Gravity Blast, which is actually never used by Kollias ;)

This isn't some Pokémon battle or something xD Longstreth is awesome, Kollias is awesome and that's pretty much it :D

Luke Cook Please. listen to that ride, johns a thick dude you don't think his hits have power? I know when I play that speed I use mainly finger strength and minimal hand movement, george throws the mueller technique into his blast which makes his hands and wrists move more and gives him an almost accented blast. Origins songs average faster speed than nile songs, john is a fuckin beast and his technique is much more fluent than Kollias. Kollias was my favorite drummer, I have his damn band tattoo'd on my body but john is just better lol much more of a broad musical background

SkateSmokeAndDrum yeah also look at merat of ulcerate he just hit as hard with tremendous complex stuff...kollias is just plain boring i mean same fills.zero dynamics man he seems dying with simple blast beats ...this requires a lot more thought that what it seems

And the bastard had been playing drums then for less than 2 years! He's an all around musical talent.
