Colter gives me chills every time I hear him. Like others, I disliked "country" til I realized that this is what real country blues is. What's on the radio is pop nonsense. This has soul, he sounds wise well beyond his years, and shows that darkness that started the whole blues/country genre down south years and years before our time. So glad I came across Colter Wall, Tyler Childers, Shakey Graves, Devil Makes 3, and others that reminded me what real, raw, soulful music is and the power it can possess.

I get the reason why people think, or assume, that cigarettes do this to people's voices. Maybe it does, but I've been smoking cigarettes since I was 15, and I hit puberty later than most of my friends, who have also been smoking since they were 15 or earlier. We're all 33 years or older, still smoking, and not a single one of us has a voice like this. I'm talking about like 8 guys. Maybe it is smoking, but it didn't do that to me, or anyone I know.

Lyrics: Sunshine beating on a good time Moonlight raising from the grave String band playing worn out honky tonk Pretty young thing going dancing in the rain High heal spitting at the nicka jacks business man with a needle and a spoon coyote chewing on a cigarette pack a young boys going howling at the moon Hey darling, sleeping on the black top Hey darling, running through trees, honey Hey darling, leaving for the next town lessin my sense catches up with me Three dead in a crash on the number four Two witness blowing on the pipe Not sure who's will be done, you can call me a sinner for wondering why. Hey darling, sleeping on the black top Hey darling, running through trees, honey Hey darling, leaving for the next town lessin my sense catches up with me Well the corn liquor tastes sweeter in this town could it be it's the same as the last? Swear I've seen your face before, just as familiar as a bottle and a glass Hey darling, sleeping on the black top Hey darling, running through trees, honey Hey darling, leaving for the next town lessin my sense catches up with me

Not sure if they use it in SOA but it is used in the series Yellowstone, S4 E3, and I will say it's a pretty fitting tune

Thing about Colter: you'll end the night listening then wake with that "voice" in your head. A talent given but to the few. Been spreading his gospel, to those who will listen.

Born and raised in West Virginia but never like country music until I heard Tyler Childers. A buddy told me if I liked TC then i should listen to Colter Wall. Holy hell he was right. These guys are in a league of there own that transcends genre preference. Just great music!

What an amazing and unique talent. This sounds like something you'd hear before a life and death shoot out in Tombstone, AZ at sunset. I'm a Nine-Inch-Nails guy and can't help but wonder how Colter Wall and Trent Reznor would sound together. Hope you get the recognition you deserve and have a long and storied career!!

We get hooked by this man's voice. We eventually get caught up in the lyrics. Time goes by and his mood and emotion capture our imagination. The buzzing old guitar is PERFECT. Mr. Wall ends up making us feel something. A very rare sensation these days. Let 'im buck.

Living in Mississippi for the past 16 years and listening to music for 56 years, this is the most un adulterated singer I have ever heard. This is American music, time signatures be damned, chord progressions? Sometimes. Soul wrenching lyrics? Always…love the baritone

This gives me chills I really don’t think the studio versions of his songs do his voice justice. Their so thinly and atmospherically mixed (if that makes sense)
