We take a look at a very nicely optioned 1964 Cadillac Fleetwood hardtop. This particular car is an unrestored example still driven daily today. She shows her age a bit but runs and drives perfectly and with reliability.

Love the Cadillac video. As it turns out I just purchased a 2004 Deville with super low miles just to keep me on the road until my new Ford Maverick shows up.

Hang on to that Cadillac, nothing rides like a Cadillac

as old and well worn as it is at 58 years old, it still has an amazing ride even by today's standards.

The 65 66 67 68 were too boxy. The late 50s were too old style to me when I was 8. 59 was too extreme. I liked the 64 the best.

Didn't cover the "Twilight Sentinel" control under the dash. The knob pulls down to put headlights in manual operation. Pushed up, is automatic. The knob also rotates to adjust the delay in how long the lights stay on, after you shut off the car. The control, which you covered, on the dash, is the sensitivity, as you alluded...it creates an eclipse effect over the photocell, thus altering the amount of darkness/light that will trigger the lights to come on. Worth noting that an AM/FM radio was optional in '64, as was a vinyl roof, and all leather interior, plus a rear window defroster. It appears these seats have been incorrectly (patterns and material) redone.
@classicperformance Жыл бұрын
Yes, most correct about the "Twilight Sentinel" I did forget that and realized upon editing the video. All good points you have made! Thanks for sharing your knowledge and your interest in Cadillacs!

That "trumpet" is another horn, a still higher note. It has been repainted you can see the clear coat peeling. Original paint was single stage acrylic lacquer.

Sorry-I was wrong. It wasn’t called a TH350. Most 1964 Cadillacs had the 400. Some, I believe there Series 62, had the 4-Speed Hydra-Matic. This was the same transmission used in 1963. 1964 DeVille, Fleetwood, and Eldorados has the “Buick Barrowed” TH400.

FYI: The door locks are vacuum actuated in '64, on Cads. Hence the under hood vacuum storage tank, above the power brake booster.

If I recall this is the last year Fleetwood was available as a pillarless sedan (4 door hardtop).

I had a 64 coupe deville, this fleetwood badly needs front springs at least, sagging about two inches low and im sure its hitting its bump stops quite often on bad roads, back springs not as bad since no engine weight, my 64 had bad front springs too thats how I recongnize it, front wheels are too far up into the fenders compared to the back. New shocks wont help ride height either, mine was riding on the bump stops on RR tracks etc made a big difference with new springs, rode and drove noticeably better.

I am doubtful it is a Rochester carb, it is, it would be a 4GC. (not a quadrajet). But I am thinking it MAY be a Carter AFB.

Ya know, it's a Carter AFB 3655 S or a Rochester 4GC, correct not a Quadrajet. I may have misspoke. Appreciate the correction.

FYI: Emerg. position on switch kills power to the windows, in the event of an emergency, i.e., kid gets head stuck. Lock position prevents others from moving windows, driver retains master control.

Video was okay if it wasn't for the Caddy itself probably would've stopped watching after 1st comment about the size. Muscle cars of that era didn't exactly sip gas! A Cadillac in need of a restoration will not pass many auto parts store until work is complete. Why do guys who do these videos always have to make it a point to comment on the size of the car all the time? I love Big classic Cadillacs, you can keep those European (luxury car's) sardine can's!
