A delicious Negroni variation with Amaro Montenegro!
I wanted to get this cocktail out to you before Negroni Week was a distant memory, although it is over for this year, I don't think it's too late to share my original Negroni Week offering for this year. What i tried to do with this cocktail is illustrate how important Gin selection is in your Negroni build. Part of the genius of the Negroni is that is utilizes not one but two proprietary ingredients: Gin and Vemrouth. Both of these elements are completely different company to company so when you switch them out in your Negroni you can get some pretty brilliant and wildly different flavors. For this build I went with the Gin from Mulholland Distilling which offers a very cucumber forward Gin, I subbed the vermouth with Amaro Montenegro which provides us with a silky mouthfeel and then add Campari (of course) but also a barspoon of Mr.Black Coffee liqueur. The initial idea here was to pair the very surprisingly good flavor buddies: Cucumber and coffee. Not the flavors you'd normally think together but boy are they delicious! I now that some of you won't be able to get Mulholland Gin so a very good sub here would be Hendricks Gin due to the very prominent cucumber in it's flavor profile. So for those of you Negroni lovers who're craving something different, give this one a try!

I agree, Leondro. Mixology is an Art. Art can be taught. But whether you make money from it or not, it doesn't negate talent and passion. I subscribe to this channel because you always give the basic principles and your preference. You could smash all the ingredients together and call it a day. But you are teaching. And that's important. Love the content

Leandro, I just made one of these Mulholland Drive cocktails, subbing the original specs with Hendrick's and a barspoon of cold press. Dude, this is an absolutely magical negroni variation. I've been exploring the wonders of Amaro Montenegro, and this drink opens yet another vista for me on that adventure. I am blown away, thank you so much!

Great name for a drink. Mulholland Dr. is iconic in so many great (and warped) film noir movies. Because of this I ascended into Mulholland out of Beverly Hills as a young midwestern man many years ago. Let it be said Mulholland was eye opening in those days. Craziest damn road in the country. $20 million dollar mansions next to shacks. Gun crazy survivalist types next to hippie communes. Next minute you’re in a typical upper middle class suburb looking area... For a mile maybe. Before it transformed into some creepy Charlie Manson type ranch scenario... And back again.

I finally made this cocktail with the Mulholland gin and wow... it's incredible. I think you're 100% right about the cucumber-forward nature of the gin really shining in this one. I've made it previously with Ford's (more citrus in its profile) and it's good, but it's not that unique so doesn't stand out as well. Leandro, this is a great combination. The Montenegro is an especially brilliant addition to balance the bitterness. The Mr. Black also has just the tiniest presence but is an important element in that it helps temper the brightness of the gin. Incredible, man.

You and a few other guys have turned me into a decent bartender. My wife thanks you, and I thank you. It's a rare event when I'm out somewhere and somebody makes a cocktail that impresses me. It happens, which makes it way more enjoyable. I try the thing, the thing is good, and I appreciate why. Then my wife asks, "can you make this at home?" Yyyyyup.

Just made this drink and it was a little strong for my taste. I like Campari but it’s all I could taste. What I love about your videos though is they’ve given me an understanding of how to balance certain flavours and by changing the amount of Mr Black and Montenegro in the drink, and adding some dilution with crushed ice, I’ve made a slight variation that I love. Thanks for giving me the confidence and knowledge to experiment rather than just going “nah this isn’t for me”

Pablo O'Brien Put 0.75 oz Kahlua, 1.25 oz tequila , 1 oz lime juice. Shake well. Serve in an old fashioned glass or a longdrink glass filled with ice cubes and some wedges of lime. Top it with ginger ale (~ 1-2 oz) and garnish with a lime wedge. Kinda looks like long island ice tea and is rather boozy if you only put 1 oz of ginger ale but its sweeter and has a coffee taste

Oh baby I ALWAYS can get my hands on Hendricks, and our home bar currently has 2 (count 'em 2) bottles of Montenegro because it was a good price and came with an amazing Montenegro glass. The addition of coffee to this, is pretty interesting. There's a local distillery (MN) that makes a coffee liqueur I really like (DuNord-Cafe Frieda) that I might like to try in this. Of course there's danger in a cocktail I'd like to sip all day...

Appleton Rye 1.0 oz of Zaya Blended Rum 0.5 oz of Appleton Jamaican Rum 1.0 oz of Templeton Rye or Overholt Rye or Ritten House Rye (I prefer Ritten House) 1.0 oz of apple syrup *Side Note* apple syrup: add a 1:1 ratio of apple cider to sugar to a sauce pan and boil until combined and simmer for 5 minutes with cut up 3-4 honey crisp apples (if you want to make it sweeter add about 3 tablespoons of honey to the mix). Strain into a bottle and separate the apples into a separate bag for garnishing. Add to a mixing glass with 2-3 cubes of ice and stir per about 25-30 revolutions. Add to a rocks glass with an ice sphere. Garnish with a simmered apple in a pick.

I would've probably named this El Medico or somesuch thing if I had thrown it together. Going to have to try one, as a penicillin using Monkey Shoulders with a Laphroaig cask strength float is a favorite cocktail of mine. The only tweak I've ever really made is using Black Bottle or Black grouse for the body of the drink instead of the monkey shoulders, because I'm a sucker for peated whisky. A tequila/mezcal variation sounds interesting though, and tasty! The vibrant and spicy character a good tequila has mixed with the totally different smoke profile of the mezcal would be radically different from the whisky version for sure.

I like making my own coffee flavor liquors. Not liqueur, because I don't add sugar/simple syrup. I add coffee to my rum, and sometimes I add cocoa nibs for that extra something. It ends up being like a coffee extract, to the point that--if I wanted something a like extra--I'd just add it to some milk for a version of a latte. Foam the milk, and you are there. You can make that into a "simple creation". Though, I don't know of any commercial coffee liquors... Or liqueurs that don't use sugar as a thickener/stabilizer; though, you can make it yourself, because it's simpler to make than simple syrup. It just takes time to infuse the coffee into the rum. But, then again, why not just use "mister coffee" or "kaluha"?
