Given the 'story' of Nanashi Mumei, a wandering being who nurtures civilization but can't remember who she is, where she came from, where she belongs and wanders as a result to experience life anew every x generations. Her name essentially means 'no name,'. Very chilling song.

Stories are told over the ages, in the from of books, with pages being flipped over, but also rewritten - in one of two immediate ways, either as they are told down to newer and newer generations in the form of: Daytime, school lessons, or Nighttime, bedtime stories. Both being scribed with new meaning, as concepts evolve and change with the endless and monotonous passage of time prompting us to find solace in remembering these stories told and retold over the ages.

I cried for the first time in a very long time. I thought I had it all a few years back, lost my job, and as much as I wanted to bounce back, I kept getting turned down or ignored. Then the world as we know it regressed into isolation. Staying happy isn't easy when you can't find the courage to keep yourself pushing forward. Watching you and all these other girls is really uplifting, and this song made something finally crack and let out emotions I've been holding back. I needed it. I just love the lyrics of this song so much. Doing something unfamiliar, going out of your comfort zone, bursting your own bubble just to experience what it really feels like to be alive, and not just to exist for the sake of existing, but really live life. After I graduate from college, I felt lost. I do not know what to do with my life anymore. And that's the reason why I like this song, because basically, it encourages us to move forward no matter how hard and uncertain the world and the future might be. "I might end up dirty and disheveled but I don't want to grow old doing nothing" perfectly summed up what I'm feeling all these years. I'm doing small steps about my stagnation, and I hope that whoever feel the same way as me, you find the courage to take that one small step for a brand new start.

This song is truly heavenly.... The first rhyme with bard and celtic style felt like how us human build our civilization from scratch with blood, tears, sweat and a lot lot of time. Then come the second rhyme with that happy vibe. Yes, indeed we human stray from time to time like dark ages, world war but we still persist, civilization still persist. That cheerful tone saying as long as we still stay as we are felt like pushing us to try new things and even if we stray a little bit that's fine that's just how human is. Even if we do stray too far and stumbled so hard that we hurt ourself, we can relax for a bit an do a new start on a different path. So long as humanity still exist, civilization will never perish. The buildup and chorus are distinctly different, it’s like there’s two songs in one. I like it when people go out of the norm to explore and experiment. This is just the beginning! To more original songs in the future! Also, her voice is different when she’s play singing and try hard singing, can’t forget about her husky nervous singing too. I've listen to this song many times before, but this time, I got really emotional. I'm bad with emotions, as in I have lots of them, but I'm bad at feeling them, so I end up unintentionally bottling them up. As for why it hit me now and not before, that would be because I'm currently trying to finish a bachelor, and struggling, and I think its been weighting on me more than I though because again, this song just made me straight up cry. Because yeah, whether I fail or not, its not an end, its a new beginning, and the line "your new map will be filled with color" mad me bawl my eyes out (twice in fact, because I checked to make sure I got the quote right and it hit me just as hard again). So from the bottom of my apparently sensitive heart, thanks a lot. The song is beautiful and helped me release some pent up emotions and I am looking forward to everything else you will make in the future. Edit: 4 months has passed, I still cried at the closing lines. These words genuinely helped me though my bachelor, and I'm glad to say, I did it! I got a C and my way forward is open. That said, I'm currently taking some time to work on myself before continuing with my studies and as part of that I've gotten a proper job for the first time in my life. And while its exiting, its also hard, but again the words of this song help guide me. I love everything about this! Mumei's vocals are marvelous as expected, but I'm also really impressed by the quality of the composition! The marching beat really sells the exploration and adventure vibe, and the kick into double time for the chorus gives it an extra shot of bouncy cheerfulness that brings a smile to my face every time.

Please contact GUST because you and Kroni are practically made to be the protagonists of an Atelier game and you guys just made PERFECT music for it... I really want to play Atelier Mumei!

"These are the sands, on which it began so long ago." This sounds familiar hmmm. Sands and time... *look at a certain gremlin detective* Thank you Mumei for this wonderful original song! It's really soothing and calming, at the same time encouraging. A perfect song for the start of an adventure!

I really love the "Existential Dread" version of this song. She sang it during the 602K stream.

2:48 I love this line for what I feel it alludes to. It's not just 'the sands of time', but (I'd like to think) a reference to actual history. Think, where was it that "it began, so long ago"? *Mesopotamia* A fertile river valley, amongst the deserts of the middle east, a place where the first civilization could come into being.

As a history lover, I immediately fell in love with this song and it is FANTASTIC! Thank you for this original song, Mumei! A New Start indeed!

Super excited for this Mumei! Definitely a good song to start your day with. After waiting for so long, we finally get to hear this masterpiece

This song makes me think of an immortal who lost their memory, questing for something they don't remember. Should they ever regain their memory, they would realize their quest was Death, the Great Beyond, an end to the sadness of seeing all the people they love eventually grow old and die, towns and cities crumble to ruin, even mountains wash to the sea. Their memories were sealed to forget the pain of that loss, but it's still hidden deep inside. Maybe that'll be my next D&D character. Or a major NPC, if I'm stuck on the wrong side of the screen again...

Mumei needs her on adventure JRPG like the Atelier series. ^_^

Very nice! Always enjoy me a good folksy type song with a catchy chorus! The instrumental makes me want to listen to Von Ziegler for some reason XD
