Oris' Latest at Watches and Wonders 2023

Жыл бұрынRolf Studer, CEO of Oris, shows Oris's Watches and Wonders 2023 novelties to Wei Koh, Founder of Revolution. If you're a watch fan, you might have heard about the Oris Propilot X Kermit Edition, designed by Oris’s creative director Ken Laurent and Disney's The Muppets. A short film was made about this special watch, which you can watch on the Oris website. Mr Studer also presented the Oris ProPilot Altimeter, which is the first and only mechanical wristwatch to incorporate an altimeter, also known as an aneroid barometer. This utilitarian device returns in 3D printed carbon fiber. Wei also got to see the Oris Big Crown Calibre 473, which was presented in January 2023 and is driven by the Calibre 472 with 120-hour power reserve.

The great thing about a mechanical altimeter is that it can also tell you the weather. That is an awesome idea for a watch.

@@HandlewithcareVibes Yes a mechanical altimeter is just a barometer and as the weather changes it will fluctuate. As long as you are staying in the same location that is. When the barometer drops that typically means rain is coming and if it rises usually the weather is clearing. I have several wall mounted barometers that are more specific as to sunny/ cloudy/ rainy/ storming and its not an exact science but it will definitely tell you when its about to rain or storm. If you see the barometer drop suddenly, get inside. I'm a big hiker and I actually take an altimeter with me for that reason. Its surprisingly effective. Actually let me give an example because that sounds way more complicated than it is: If I'm camping I'll set the altimeter to show 10,000ft. If it climbs up to 13,000 then I know the weather will be nice if it drops to 7,000 then rain is incoming, if it drops to 5,000 its going to storm.

That shade of green looked mesmerizing on the wrist. I prefer my dials with a bit more furniture, but that green looks outrageous.

Nice releases. I think only some parts of the propilot are grade 5 titanium.

Oris will have a hard time competing with other brands in the same price range, at least I don't think they can do it with these underwhelming releases. Caliber 400 was supposed to lift them up but it's doing the opposite!

Oris works with muppets - sorry but I had to laugh - don’t be ashamed 90% of us work with muppets lol . Nice idea but not sure it translates as well as the Snoopy idea .

oris = thirsty. what happened to this brand that stood on its own. now they literally released a kermit, embarrassing to ride that "rolex" wave. made some massive altimeter, 2003 called. and jumped on the tiffany bandwagon, and late at that. faceplant.
