We live in uk 🇬🇧 and 25 year old son drove me into this journey. He was asking me questions about how things were before colonialism, what did we do for religion? Does it mean that our Gods don’t mean anything? How did we live? So, we started on the journey and first stopped everyone from speaking English in the house embarrassing African Spirituality. Our culture is not dirty or evil. Thank you for uploading this.

I was Suprise, when I met a financial Director of one big Car dealership, and guy came from Puerto Rico. He is Ogun devotee, he has a little Shrine inside his office, i asked why you choose to Worship Ogun. He said he deal with Car, and since he encounter the Spirit of Ogun, his life change, beyond is expectation. He said Yoruba deep knowledge, about nature is phenomenal.

In Brazil, several famous and rich people are from the cult of Orishas. the greatest Brazilian writer of the 20th century (Jorge Amado), the singer Anitta, the singer Maria Bethânia (First woman to sell 1 million records in Brazil), the former president of the Republic Getúlio Vargas who created the first religious freedom law, created because he attended a temple of Sàngó, and several other people.

Hello Kunle Afolayan. Thanks for uploading this and seeing a modern/younger gen Yoruba person doing something like this. You know as well as I do, it's very much frowned upon in Nigeria (aborisha ke! you might as well say you're an assassin! - that good ol' colonial jedi mind trick..). I believe you're involved in Nollywood or the Nigerian entertainment scene? if that's right please continue to promote Yoruba culture, Ifa, Orishas etc through films, art, plays etc! Much love!

Ah! Assassin ke? That's extreme. Is it that bad? Our people are living in darkness without an awareness that they are. One cannot dishonor his/her ancestors and expect to live an honorable life. The current state of our people reflect that. The river is purest at its source. We are the first humans on Earth, so our knowledge of every element of the universe and Olodumare is purer than any other group that emerged after. Except that our people have allowed themselves to be be fooled by the "Europeans". And one thing I have come to conclusion on after delving into our spiritual ways, is that not many Yoruba can live up to the moral standard required by the Orisas, so they simply go along religions that offer them grace or ability to continously do bad. But irrespective of what one practice, karma is waiting, here or beyond.

There are a multitude of Afro-Brazilians who travel to Nigeria to study Ifa and to reclaim what was taken from them during slave trade. They honor, respect and revere Yoruba culture, people and religion. Many times in spite of ridicule, oppression and anti -African assaults sponsored by the government. I am curious why you would select a white women to be the spokesperson for Yoruba religion in Brazil, when so many of your African counterparts live there and are marginalized?
@mywealth42

Image is important especially related to religion and spirituality. Image was and is used as an instrument of white supremacy. The image of whiteness as God was/is used to establish docility in the mind of the oppressed and to justify white supremacy. Why must Africans be reminded of how beautiful our culture is from somebody that is white? Why must whiteness validate the beauty of our culture? Why is whiteness an affirmation of the beauty of our culture? Whiteness is not the universal hallmark of beauty, intelligence, etc. Perhaps the African that posted this video has internalized white supremacy and indoctrination. The fact that humanity has its origins in Africa does not negate the impact of "whiteness" and its supportive structures of racism throughout the world. Whiteness and racism have to do with power, control, oppression, brutality and the dissemination of "whiteness" as "superior” throughout the world. It doesn't have anything to do with the genetic origins of humanity. Your response further illustrates my observation that she (a white priest) serves the purpose of validating the beauty of African culture and religion. Your statement about Africans running from their indigenous religions is an attempt to justify the legitimacy of the “white representative” of African religion. Sounds a lot like a sales pitch for white superiority. I am addressing "white image" as the strategic continuation of white dominance, indoctrination and supremacy. I am also addressing the internalization of the aforementioned. The origins of humanity and the happiness of the white priest (who represents African indigenous religion) are irrelevant distractions from the observations being revealed. Perhaps the emotional quality of knowing that humanity originated in Africa and that the "white priest is happy" is comforting. Nonetheless this clever offering of emotional comfort serves white supremacy, as it lulls the recipient of white supremacy to sleep, while spinning a narrative of innocence on the part of the white supremacist and their network of supporting mechanisms.

Why are you embarrassing yourself? So, you don't even understand Yoruba language. You need to be helped. Meaning of Orisa Ori-Sa. Ori: head; Sa: selected. In full, it mean the "Selected ones" or the "Chosen ones". Ori stand for destiny, so these were individuals whose destinies allowed them to achieve great things on Earth. Even Jesus Christ is an Orisa. Even you as an individual is an Orisa because your Ori itself is an Orisa. Better go seek knowledge and stop walking in darkness.
