Orphaned Baby Sea Otter Learns How to Swim at New Home

4 жыл бұрынCinder the baby sea otter was just 5 weeks old when she was found stranded by strong currents near Homer, Alaska. The orphaned pup was dehydrated and underweight when rescuers at the Alaska SeaLife Center in Seward began caring for her. But Cinder's health quickly improved, and now the cute little pup is settling in to her new home at SeaWorld in San Diego, California. With the help of her human caregivers, Cinder is learning how to swim and groom herself in SeaWorld's sea otter nursery. #InsideEdition

They can't, she wouldn't survive just with her being healthy. Nova was much in better place than her with surrogate motter program. Even so, after they freed her back to the wild for more than a year, she got accident &after her injuries healed, she can't survive the wild &now happily lives in San Diego Seaworld :)

No, Cinder is LUCKY. Monterey Aq released them back to the wild since late 1980s &they did NOT survive. Finally in 2002 they started to have success with surrogate motter program &remain the only facility to have the program to this date. Despite doing so for almost 2decades, the success rate is fluctuating. It's VERY hard &expensive to keep the otters alive. Thankfully this year, they partner so San Diego can start to have the surrogate motter program &release back to the wild, too!
