It might be that Ortho was using AI, but Opthalmology was using Jonathan. Ortho never specified. And it's not clear whether Jonathan was using AI. What really screws with *my* head, is that Jonathan nodded on a phone call, said nothing, then hung up!

You said it is not X but X. Jonathan is AI. He is supreme. No non artificial intelligence can be so supreme.

My understanding is that Jonathan was the one writing the prompts for the AI to write the progress notes.

What's so crazy, is that the most of the doctors who learned English as a second language, had WAY better (legible) handwriting than those who had English as their native language. Shows how with time, we can be less focused and more lazy, with any task...if we aren't aware.

Legal too. If the note gets summoned in a court hearing then whose authorship is it, the clinician or the AI?

I don’t see AI assistance it as much different from using a Note Template…the important thing is that the provider carefully reviews and edits what the AI produces before signing off on it. But (for better or worse) we’ll all be using AI in healthcare before long…it’s too much of a productivity boost to not use it

Eh. They’ve been saying AI was going to revolutionize healthcare for a really long time. It still can’t reliably interpret even an EKG, and if I asked it to write one of my notes, I’d have to read the entire thing to make sure it’s accurate. I have templates I use now that make it possible for me to write a long OB note for example in a short amount of time. Why would I replace that with an AI that I’d have to proofread?

@@vesta1000 Ophthalmology bros know all about staring into the AI abyss. Our scans are basically the machine peering into someone's eyes + some kind of AI magic and then the software pops out full colour photos, numbers, and analysis. Many a young doc thought they were looking at edema or retinal detachment but it's really an artefact.

It's pretty good! I was an Ortho Jonathan and worked along with AI. They still need us though bro.

Did you just use the words “if managed well” in reference to the medical community? Are you sure you’ve worked with healthcare people? The odds of them even doing a passable job are not good and we all know it. We can’t even manage to figure out how to cure someone from cancer without bankrupting their families for the next two generations.

Sitting down after lunch to do more editing, and yeah, so much this. Love transcription, but dang some dictators! I shudder to think of editing AI notes.
