This is my review of the Ortur Laser Master 2. It is my first try with a Laser Engraver and cutter and I really liked it. This review goes over my initial thoughts on the machine as well as setting up my very first ever engraving.

Air assist is good to have. (ventilation would be good as well!!!) laser is a nice addition to the tool kit. solid state has advantages of not needing mirrors (alignment) etc.

To vent the laser fumes, try using your dust collection system to set up a vacuum input near the work piece. I have my dust collector set up to blow the fine dust outside behind my workshop so I would vent completely, but if you have the internal filter system, it nay distribute the fumes enough they aren't a problem.

do you have the settings for the stainless? i want to try that out. I am trying to cut 4mm plywood now, but waiting for supplies. Thanks for answering my last question. I got it to work and i have made some sick looking tiles and photo realistic wood engravings

I acquired a Laser Master 2 from a friend in an unopened box. It seems there is no sliding panel or aluminum spacer to adjust height. Have you heard of this?

if i wanted to engrave an area larger then the frame, can i break the image up so i can engrave one side of the wood, then move the engraver over the second part of the wood and laser the rest?

I don't see any reason why you couldn't do that. You would just need to be careful to line it up exactly square to you last position. In Laser GRBL you can use the function to show you the outline of your burn to make sure they will line up. Only other thing to consider is that the fixed laser is to high to burn onto the surface flush with the legs, at least on mine. You would either need to figure out a way to lower the laser more or it might work with the lower powered lasers that require focusing and are not fixed.

Sorry I missed this. It depends on the power laser you have. On my 20W laser I went for 100mm/min at 100% power. I also covered the surface I wanted to engrave with a sharpie.

It is honestly up to you. I have an affiliate link in the description which does provide me a very small commission but honestly you can get it from wherever you fell comfortable. can you show how to connect this to an xtool Ra2 rotary tool? they say they have extra belts to connect to ortur and other lasers.

The RA2Pro comes with extra connections for the Stepper motors and not the belts. You basically would unhook the stepper motor wire from the Y Axis stepper motor and plug that into the RA2 Pro jumper wires that come with the kit. That's really all there is to it.

Does the laser light ever have to be replaced, if so, how often?

I'm not 100% sure. I have never had to replace one.

Which version of Laser GRBL are you using?

When this video was made it was v4.3.0. I have upgraded since then to a newer version where many of the buttons are now added by default for the Ortur Machines.

Thanks for the compliment! Like I was saying in the video they sent me the machine to review for free. It came reasonably fast and was packed well but I haven't shopped around to compare.If you check out the links they also sell it through amazon.

I have not done it personally but I know that it can. You may need to use a marker on it first but I have seen others use it for that.

Hello and thank you. Honestly I think my kids end up stealing 90% of the things I make. I think they think my little work area is some sort of toy factory made for them. I may make some merch in the future but now I am just having making stuff.

i think they built mine wrong because my fixed laser is still about 1 inch ABOVE the block and i have the set screws out that hold the sliding uint inplace.

I know this is from a week ago but today I learned that you can actually pull down the laser nozzle itself on the module. This may account for the gap in your laser. You also want to make sure you had the laser mounted to the lowest hole on the X axis plate.

I didnt see anything on the amazon post but are they all fixed with height adjustments now? I heard the older ones didn't have the height adjustment.

If I remember correctly the 15 and 20W are fixed height and the 7W is still adjustable. It seems to be ever evolving so it might depend on where you buy and which version you get.

@@BusterBeagle3D oh you are correct, I read toward the bottom and it mentioned the models and which is fixed. Thanks for a great review. I am a wood CNC guy and wanted to try one out before buying a high dollar standalone machine.

@@BusterBeagle3D Hello...So I have an LU1-3 and pretty sure it is a 15W. If there is no height adjustment, then what is the optimum distance for a perfect beam on the material? The fixed distance to the board I have it mounted to or have to play with the speed and power?

@@melissaking7931 I'm pretty sure the LU1-3 is a fixed focus laser. It should have come with a little aluminum spacer. If it didn't the bottom of the nozzle should be 29mm from the surface of the piece.

I think what this generally means is the reviewer is not influenced by the company providing the review. Some creators do get paid to review and the influence on their opinions are very obvious.
