Shobhana herself did the choreography and deservedly bagged the National Award for Best Actress in that Year. Also, I think there's difference between the way she danced in reality and imagination. In reality Ganga is not a dancer and thus her moves are a pale imitation of what Nagavalli would do to perfection.

Sure, all the viewrs are not care that point. Naturally heroene Shobhana is not a well dancer But "Nagavally" character is amazing classical dance performer. We can see that difference in that film. This Film's director Fazil's vision and caring is brilliant. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

@@Priya24-n1z they didn't mean anything else by saying South Indian, most of the Indian states have their own classical and traditional dance 😊, kathak,manipuri odissi are from North, but in South every state has classical dance. Mohiniattam is classical dance of kerala but for this song they took Bharathanatyam from Tamil Nadu as they have more aggressive steps.

Manichita thazhu means an ornate lock. A tridant shaped big lock (that is pictured in the title. Mani means bell, thazhu means lock. It produce a sound while locking and unlocking

Okay, correct me if I'm wrong, but from what I've heard, this song created a new design for bharathanatyam (which is the dance style she did). The actual bharathanatyam costume looks more like an actual saree (the first one in red and creame which she wears in reality) and the other design (the won in her imaginations with a U shaped thingy in the front) never existed before this movie (at least that's what I heard). With this movie we started seeing girls wearing that design (called the 'manichithrathazhu design') while dancing bharathanatyam (though mainly in the semi classical versions). This movie set many other trends in women's clothing too

I don't think so this is true I think that is traditional Bharatanatyam saree which existed even before this movie came because in Indian culture there are lot of type of sarees and in a lot of different ways they have been wore even before cinema came into India

It was what was told to me and my mom, when I went to rent the costume for my 'arengetam' (very first stage performance, if you didn't know). The lady at the rental place told us that she remembers when the movie came out and suddenly everyone wanted that style, how they didn't initially have it, and how it has now become almost a standard to ask which style of costume is needed before showing all they have. Also there is one fact you missed when you told about the different styles of saree draping in India. The costume of Bharatanatyam came from the way the upper class women of ancient Tamil Nadu wore their saree, who all wore it the same way. All the other styles of saree draping are from different regions of India, and you can see it's influence in their own classical and folk dances

Fazil replied that he would consider it if both Shobhana and Mohanlal aged, but if artificial intelligence could make them look young again, he would think about it. Your kannada director get inspired by the outstanding performance of sobhana n mohanlal... That's why he decided to remake this movie into kannada.. No masala.. No dramatic scenes in it.. Sobhana won national award for this performance.. Other actresses just copied her.. And made a little bit changes... That's all..
