What amazes me is how this series puts out so much power without the boost port in the sleeve.

Hmmmmmmm, sorry David, I just can't get excited over this one........the FP's are much nicer as are all the FP clones! In addition, all of the twin ball-bearing FSR clones from the 1980 to 1990s with twin-needle carbs would simply leave it for dead by very large margins, on every single competitive aspect, whether it be for price, power, smoothness of transition or even durability.............I can't visualize a market niche for engine types like the O.S. LA range.............unless it would be for single use, disposable applications such as in the powering of target drones.............! And even then, they'd have to come in at about 1/3rd of the current asking prices to present a challenge and would probably still get beat by clones and the electrics.

Well I am not trying tout any engine I post a video of being great or better than others. My video content is meant to be open, honest, and factual the best I can make them. Personally I never cared for the LA series either. This was an engine a friend sent to me to make a video for his sales ad. But most people must not share your opinion as this series of engines has been a very large seller over the years.

Guys who bought them probably don't love motors as much as they love planes..........they just want to get the planes going and not have to fiddle with twin needle carb adjustments etc. However, once you have owned an FP or a well made FP clone like a Magnum or Thunder Tiger (GP ranges), it's very difficult to get excited over an LA. I will be making some engine running videos soon (bought a bunch of them on e-bay). Some are new and some are all crudded up...........so there will be some restoration work going on. I've just got to learn how to use a video editing tool first! I'll drop you a notice once I start posting.
