This was recommended by KZfaq, the day I was given an FS120 for bearing replacement. How serendipitous is that! Answered all the questions I had not got around to asking yet. Thank you.

Thank you so much for this very usefull video. I am refurbishing an OS FS 56 suffering of rusty components and worn out bearings. On the rusty surface, I could'nt see where the camshaft dot was situated when disassembling. Thanks to you, by now I know how to do. Your 3D motion system is perfect!

this video is exactly what I was looking for. I disassembled an OS FS 120 and when I went to reassemble I realized the timing gear had to go in a certain way and I did have a clue. thanks for the video

great fs model, very informative. I am in the process of learning to convert some of my 2 strokes to diesel, hoping that it may be possible to modify the heads.

If using more nitromethane in the fuel or large props use the thicker one.

that is what I was afraid of, It just seemed so convenient that all 2 stroke heads have a well centered 1/4 x 32 hole and set bore, thought maybe I could be used to adapt for diesel....

Do the OS120 FS-E require two head gaskets? I have a rebuild kit and it came with a smaller and a larger thickness head gasket. I'm not sure if I'm supposed to use both or one of the two.

My OS 120SP did this right out of the box. It was sent to Horizon hobby several times without fixing what was wrong. I was even sent a new one that displayed the same rich running condition. I was told by them the super charger needs to be broke in to the point of not creating much boost?

rcdieselrc yes, I bought the engine as soon as it was available. I even sent them a VHS of the engine going rich when it was tipped upside down pouring out a lot of smoke and quitting.

Is it a worm gear combination ???!?!! Is the crank shaft is the worm and the cam attached with gear ???!?!!!

It's a 2:1 ratio and is a helical gear with a cross arrangement. Worm gears have one or two "teeth" on the worm so the ratio is typically quite high.

To adjust valves set the crank to top dead center of compression stroke. Both rockers will be unloaded at this point.

i am working on a 125 parallel twin ohc engine no push rod how would i set timing on the cam shaft thanx.

If it's not an RC engine I suggest you fine the proper manual to set the cam correctly in your engine.

+Mark Macmillan as a rule of the thumb on any four stroke engine no matter how many cylinders it has got if you set the piston on one cylinder to top dead centre, make sure it is NOT the ignition stroke for that cylinder and have both valves rocking, that means as the inlet is opening the exhaust will be closing around the same time (valve overlap) your engine will run.

You'll have to make a new head. There isn't enough material in a stock head to turn it into a diesel head.

I still own my OS 120SP, it ran great on the test stand, but installed in a Goldberg Ultimate every time the bipe was rolled over the engine would quit with a rich condition no matter how tweeked the needle valve was. The aggregation this engine caused me i got out of the hobby of model aviation.

If it's the old one, the pump and/or regulator diaphragms have long ago deteriorated and are stiff. It's happened to most of these at this point. Unfortunately, there are no spares available. If it's an SIII, it probably needs cleaning, but parts are still available if it's more than that.
