A travel guide for visiting Osaka Castle and Osaka Castle Park in Osaka Japan. The Osaka Castle, or "Osaka-jo" is one of the most famous landmarks in Japan, and in this video I will tell you everything you need to know to visit Osaka Castle including how to get to Osaka Castle, what to see, and what to eat on the castle grounds. I start the video at the JR Morinomiya station, walk through the outer castle park, cross the first castle moat, check out some of the food stands, eat some tasty food, check out the shops in the Osaka Castle shopping mall, get entertained by the performers in front of the castle, climb the 8 floors to the top, and finally admire the view from the top of the Osaka Castle keep.

Cool castle and good review of Osaka. Tourism is almost everywhere - but from what you show this place has not been overrun. Will want to visit this. Keep up the weekly videos!

Very cool castle! I like how the castle grounds has the castle itself along with many other cool things to see and eat. With the elevator lines that long, I definitely would take the stairs. It is one way to burn off the calories from the great food in Japan!

It really amazed me how many people would stand in that line to avoid a few stairs!

So, according to this video, the main values of this castle are the view from there and the gift shop?

Love watching your Japan vlog videos:) Really helped out when we visited Japan last summer. We took your advice and went to Robot Restaurant and that was such an exciting show. We will be going back again this Summer. Could you do a vlog on how to ride the JR buses in Kyoto? We had a Jr pass and didn't utilize the bus pass since we didn't know how to ride the bus. We would like to visit the Kinkaku-ji gold temple in Kyoto but it looks like you have to take a bus from Kyoto station.

I visited the Tower Castle and IT WAS AMAZING! Not only does the architecture still look great, it has amazing lakes and fun fact: This castle was destroyed during the making of the 1955 film "Godzilla Raids Again", mostly a famous scene where Godzilla knocks Angurius on top of the castle.

ive been to a few castles in japan. i think probably this one and himeji-jo. oubanyaki (sort of like a homemade dorayaki) is one of my favorite next to takoyaki. i usually just like the standard red bean on the inside.

Himeji is pretty nice too! Especially during cherry blossom time! I'm sort or mixed on red bean.. custard still has the leg up in my book :)

While Osaka castle is nice if you're in the Kansai region definitely check out Himeji Castle in the city of Himeji about an hour express train ride from Osaka (passes through Kobe first so you might also wanna make a stop along the way)... Nijo Castle in Kyoto is also worth the visit...

My dad and I went there when we went to Japan back in 2012. Don't remember seeing any of the stales or stuff like that. Our tour went straight into the castle and out, then to the keep and that was it Didn't have much fun, to be honest. That's likely because I'd have really enjoyed all the other stuff, but didn't get to do any of that, plus my feet were killing me before we got to the castle, so constantly walking on painful feet around just the castle and the keep wasn't exactly fun. If we go back next time we're in Japan, we'll just go by ourselves and not as part of a tour, so I can actually see everything and have fun

Aww.. that's too bad. But in general I'm not a fan of tour groups for that reason. They generally just herd you around like cattle.. and half the fun is experiencing the things along the way!

Osaka .... first capital of Japan ?? Hmmm... I 'm afraid this is not correct... As far as I know it was Nara... Great video anyway... : )

You're right.. and I'm definitely not. I meant to say that the first capital of Japan was in the Kansai region near Osaka. It just didn't come out right! Thanks for the correction!

There was a period when Osaka was a capital. It’s between Nara and Kyoto and it’s like 2000+ years ago. Visit a history museum near Osaka castle. It’s called Osaka Museum of History. (www.mus-his.city.osaka.jp/eng/index.html)

I was a bit disappointed in Osaka Castle...I thought it would have some exhibits on the history of the structure, how and why it was built, and maybe some period rooms and stuff. But apparently it's basically a for pay observation tower and eating-shopping complex.

Yeahhhh.......me too. In fact, remaining parts of the castle includes stone stereobates and FEW wooden architecture built on them. If you want to visit a castle with more remaining wooden gates, towers, rooms, etc., then you'd better visit Matsuyama castle, Takamatsu castle, Kumamoto castle, such places.
