Was raised in Swan River and this reminds me to only return in Sept now. LOL You and your family enjoy that new wood stove and have a Merry Christmas sitting in front of it.

The same person must have lived in my house too, good bones and lots of "custom" additions that I wish weren't there... it's fun doing any project

Love how projects have their little nuggets of "oh my house could have burned down" reminds me of someone wiring up my 30 amp range with 15 amp rated wire. Looked like burnt marshmallows when I ripped it out!!! Stay warm, I am building a fire right now.

Did the same thing a few years ago installing a wood stove insert. Not wanting to mess with the old chimney, I put a insulated stainless flex liner up to the chimney cap and it burns super clean. The new stove is so good it would get the house way too hot. I now keep some low btu soft maple and doug fir on hand and use the wood I need depending on outside temp.

Great video love seeing the stove go in. That trip in the snow was crazy, the camera usually sees much better then you can so that visibility was terrible. Thanks again and more please

It doesn't matter how hard you try to seal your house, if you have negative pressure from your furnace, cold air is getting sucked in. good call.

Had one of those "oh crap" moments this past spring. Bought this house in January 2019 and working diligently to make it ours. Between military obligations, work, and the Master's program I'm in, it's been slow, but it's coming along. Was removing the gas starter hardware from the fireplace, cutting and capping a few inches after the on/off valve. When I got into the wall, I noticed a metric ass ton of duct tape on one of the pipes leading from the 500 gallon LP tank. Long story short, the idiots that lived here before had the same idea of removing the gas starter, except they cut into the main pipe and "sealed" it with duct tape. I understand, if you can't duct it, fu.... forget it. But come on, these people had far too much trust in dollar store quack tape.

I didn’t know Canadians used the imperial system. I assumed they all used metric and was shocked to hear tinman discuss the required distance for the chimney in “feet”. I’m American you’ll have to excuse my ignorance on what system the rest of the world uses lol
@larrywarner93142 жыл бұрын
Not sure how it is in Canada but here in Pennsylvania with fireplace inserts you have to use a double walled stainless steal flued pipe

Hi tinman, here in Australia we not allowed to install a chimney our self because the insurance company won't pay out if the place is burt down 👇

Is that a Dishy??! I ordered Starlink in Feb. of 21, and they're still saying April of 22 before I get it. We live out in the boons, no internet unless I put up a 75-80 foot tower. Starlink is gonna be awesome, I hope anyway. Nice work on the new fireplace. Any reason you went with another fireplace vs a wood stove??
@hisWACness2 жыл бұрын
Ahh, I see now the new one is a stove. Good deal.

Is the pump house used due to how deep the ground ice is up north? I’ve never seen someone go get water like that. Strange but neat.
@vintagesawyer62462 жыл бұрын
Its not permafrost there but just no water in the ground I think . Seems strange to me being in Ontario, here you need a good water supply to get a building permit. But its just different geology there I guess.
