This is the toughest fight Dela hoya ever faced in his career. When interviewed he said, I couldn't walk for two weeks after fighting this guy and was asked whether there should be a rematch and he said no. On the scorecard ike was leading until the 12th round Dela hoya realised that something must be done. That's why he fought his life in the last round which eventually changed the results. Ricky Garcia : I agree. Quartey had him beaten. I still think Quartey should have gotten the decision, especially when you compare his performance to that of Tito Trinidad. Quartey was a more difficult physical matchup for De La Hoya. Trinidad gave him more strategic problems. But that last round made the decision for De La Hoya at least “justifiable.”

I know ODLH is a legendary fighter, but got damn was he fast in his younger years. I never really watched him during his earlier years, 1st fight i saw was against JCC which was your prototype for the "Passing of the Torch" ceremony between fighters. Knew he was very very talented, but am amazed at his hand speed.
@Romans8-93 жыл бұрын
He was really fast up to like 2001. Even how he bounces off his toes. Its crazy how different he looks here compared to when he fought Mosley 2 in 2003. Slower hands and flat footed. He probably shoulda retired after that fight.

@@Romans8-9 Your right bro.. I think he was getting past his prime against Vargas even though he looked good in that fight.

The fight should have been stopped in the 12th. Great fight. Oscar is one of my favorites. Never ducked anyone. Underrated skills. Tremendous left hook and a great jab. Head movement was underrated. One of the great chins of his generation. Great fighter.

Nice to see again this fight. I did not remember Quarter had a so good defense. Delahoya is great. Love his combination body hook then uppercut like Tyson
