Oscar Emmanuel Peterson, (August 15, 1925 -- December 23, 2007) was a Canadian jazz pianist and composer. He released over 200 recordings, won eight Grammy Awards, and received numerous other awards and honours. He is considered to have been one of the greatest jazz pianists,having played thousands of live concerts to audiences worldwide in a career lasting more than 60 years.

In this video Oscar is getting older, but oh so handsome still! No wonder he was awarded so many Grammys and other honors. He was a genius. I wish he could have been with us longer. However, he did leave us over 200 recordings to enjoy at our leisure. He influenced so many other pianists and musicians in his life time. I just loved his humor and fun spirit and his tender heart. It appears that Oscar is also joined by Martin Drew [D] and Dave Young [B] in addition to Joe pass. He was a phenomenal musician who has been in my musical listening world for 66 years. God Bless you Oscar; you are missed.

Amazing composition. Sounds like Eb, Dm, g7#5, cm, b7, bbm, eb7, ab, gm, c7, f7, b7 bb7.... melody walks up c, eb, g at the start.

Whoever said Oscar does not swing must be deaf. For decades I have said that Oscar Peterson is the definition of swing.

Love 💕 Oscar Peterson BUT he plays too many notes for me to absorb. His improvs sometimes leaves me bewildered. I guess some artists are just too much.
