I’m amazed how dev Patel was the lead of this film yet was so humble by standing in the back of the group entertaining the little girl. He didn’t need the praise for his efforts, he wanted to light on every body else.

Slumdog Millionaire was a complete mess compared to City of God (the film boyle tried to replicate). Best of the decade? What a Joke? Milk, Wall-E and the Dark Knight were the ones that stood tall at the end of the decade. All 3 made it in nearly every critics best of the decade list. Slumdog on the other hand constantly gets mentioned in the list of the worst best picture winners.

This Hollywood film didn't get much screening in india but when it's declared as nomination of oscar.its get sudden popularity in india and every one get proud of it. Strange but true. Appreciation for Danny Boyle.

It's because Indians don't like this kind of movie. Majority like movies which are not nominated here. list includes some top hollywood movies and majority of Bollywood movies. Theatres didn't wanted to take risk with a new movie. Also the promotions were poor in India. As what he said. They didn't had much money. It was a collaboration. But time has now changed, low budget movies like drishyam Andhadhun are also great with amazing story. I think Slumdog Millionaire could have done more in India, If that was properly promoted before release.

Yes, Slumdog Millionaire deserved to win hands down. Dark Knight was good but let's be real, there's so many movies like Dark Knight. This is a original, unique film. You'll rarely see a movie like Slumdog on a Hollywood screen & be that great of a film. It was a win well deserved! :)

Shankha Shuvra Das Actually no it doesn't portray India as a shithole at all. What country doesn't have a slums in it? Every country does. This movie is mainly about one guy living in the slums. Just as it is if it was about a guy living in a shithole in America (which by the way we have A LOT of places like that here in the US but they don't show it on TV where people think it's all rich and living the "life" as so they say) Dark Knight was a great movie BUT there's many, MANY movies that can be mirrored to Dark Knight. Slumdog is a movie you won't see on ANY Hollywood screen and for an American that's never been to India or seen it in person, I still found that country a beautiful place after watching "Slumdog Millionaire". In my opinion, Slumdog to me was a wonderful Masterpiece and I do hope they show more movies (with real life situations) like that on Hollywood screen

"The Dark Knight" is a timeless masterpiece and was unfairly robbed just because it was a 'super-hero' movie which the Academy always ignores. "Slumdog Millionare", while a very well-made movie, is nowhere near as influential, memorable or the landmark that "The Dark Knight" stands today as for the superhero genre...

Why is it that the movie which portrays India as a shithole wins an Oscar but a movie like lagaan which shows the cruelty of Britishers does not... If there are slums everywhere then why India? India has a beautiful side you know

Hans Zimmer deserved the original score of The Dark knight and Christopher Nolan deserved best director (They literally showed that kids from slum talking in english *IN AMERICAN ACCENT* )the experience of watching the dark knight in theater was just mind blowing the music was that good (MY opinion no hate to Slumdog millionaire team even though its not a indian movie but indians are too busy in fake patriotism)

Why do people even bother complaining about their favourite movies not getting nominated? If it's your favourite movie, you don't need an Oscar seal of approval to make it official. People remember great movies, they don't remember nominations. It's also very childish to trash one movie's quality just because another movie didn't get nominated. Grow up. Just watching this video and listening to Jai Ho in background give me goosebumps. Christian Colsan is so humble & Dev Patel was in tears. he had tears in his eyes through this whole time. And the way Anne Hathaway was cheering for the cast of this film, gives another reason to love her. And other Hollywood stars as well, were so humble in cheering them. Cheers for this genius film and great City of Mumbai and my India.
