Heill þik!
I was just tryin' my Oseberg Lamp since I found a method to keep it always ready for a viking camp. The lamp should be always ready and easily transportable.
Someone could say that it could be fill also with oil: well, actually yes, but if someone in a viking camp would accidentally hit a lamp like this, flammable hot oil would be thrown everywhere and your drinking evening will turn into a real nightmare!
So here we are: wax and shavings!

Thanks for sharing, I wondered how they worked. Looking to get a couple of these for my living history display to go with the replica Osberg bed I made.

Really cool.liked and subscribed. This is all I do on my channel. Lots of Viking stuff. I'm currently planning to forge my own oseberg lamps.

hot oil vs. hot wax... seems about the same detriment either way. the ex, being a solid at room temp. would make it easier to transport, but knowing a hot oil or a hot wax lamp oven while drinking would be just as bad. lol well, my two cents. I've never heard of an osenberg lamp before. i like it. thank you for your video!

In fact yes, when melted and lit it's better to keep both eyes open, but wax doesn't expand as much as oil and it's not easy to spill too... As you say, wax makes it easier to transport and once cold you don't have to bother if it's clean or not since you will use exactly the same way next time and it won't spoil your car. Thank you for your comment, you lit a little spark and you gave me an idea for another video (oil vs. wax) 😁

@@thebjorn3504 WOOT! I like sparks... (well. when there is control, of course. lol) I make small wax "cakes" for transport and wrap them in a cotton cloth. (mostly in the winter-time) I use the cakes for many things from waxing string to adding to my candle pot that I put into my lantern.

Hey thanks for sharing this video, we have four of these lamps and we tried everything, but it never lasts longer than a half of an hour 😮‍💨 So can you tell me, how long does it work? That would be very, very nice! Becouse nobody knows the right way to use it, arround us 🙃 😂 Have a nice day!

Okay we've tested it last weekend, and it worked very well. They burned from 2 1/2 till 3 1/2 hours! Well that's great, so I told everybody they should watch your Video. Special Thanks to you! It's a gameganger and we needed roundabout 2 Kilos of bees wax for 8 lamps, or 4 Lamps for 2 days. Thank you very much!
