Thank-you so much for sharing your experience at the air show with us. Since I am one of those who cannot get enough plane-spotting, I thoroughly enjoyed your video. Unfortunately, I viewed “Part 1” too late to leave a comment. However, since “Part 2” is hot off the press, I am able to write my narrative in a timely manner. The one thing that causes me to give an airshow 5 stars is a good static display of WW2 aircraft. The Corsair and Mustangs reminded me of this and other aspects regarding this era of aircraft. The unfortunate thing is not being able to witness their full capabilities. Pilots cannot push them too hard, since spare parts are very rare and most have to be fabricated in special machine shops. The Corsair reminded me of something I read years ago when it came to WW2, carrier based planes. Because of the tremendous torque generated by having to rotate a 400-500 pound propeller, they could not launch from carriers under full power. Although they were able to barely generate enough lift to fly, there was not enough airflow over the ailerons to keep the aircraft’s fuselage from being twisted in the opposite direction of the propeller and ending up in the drink. Naval pilots really had to thread the needle when it came to a precis power setting. Although there are so many other details I find fascinating, I’ll cut my comment short. I’m looking forward to your next post and again thank-you for keeping us enthusiasts well supplied.
