Interview with TOM ROBBINS from "MEDITATION: THE ART OF ECSTASY, a documentary film by Insearch Video.
"One of the things that first caused me to have interest in him was the fact that he was so soundly and roundly rejected and attacked by both the left and the right, by both the unthinking masses and educated, liberal intellectuals. And when someone's ideas are that universally attacked, that can arose that much hostility, that was a signal to me that there must be something there worth paying attention to."

I think there is a crucial distinction between 'Liberty', and 'Freedom'-while we are alive we can never be truly 'free' of stuff -conditioning, culture, desire. However, to have the Liberty to be able to choose our own destiny, and mode of living, this is the valuable essence worth striving-even dying for.

I too think Osho got a bad rap...people judge him without actually reading his words....He may have been a flawed guru, but he still had insights worth delving into

@GalaxyHorse Freedom is a state of being and we can most certainly be free in my opinion... it is when we are not influenced by what others think of us and/or want us to do but are able to live our own truth that we are free... it is most definitely attainable in this lifetime but it requires courage, determination and commitment..... Osho's path was not for the faint hearted...!! But well well worth it...

"........idea of every individual thinking for himself or herself and living free. Freedom is a heady one its too much of a heady one....." Buddha said "Be ye an island unto yourself" I think freedom was a heady one for Osho too and got to him. In the end, karma caught up with him and he got what he deserved. He took the idea of freedom too far, beyond what nature would allow an individual.

Freedom a heavy loaded word with many conotations. Freedom from one's own mind or what many Zen masters encourage us to sit with what is and striving to get somewhere or attain anything is just a waste of time an energy. Most of what Osho said was a rehashing of things that he had read himself as he attained a hight degree in philosophy and read voluminously. However, that is the training of the intellect, no harm in that. But the life of a mystic beyond the grasp of the intellect.

@MrThule I think, there is not much difference if anybody is having one rolls royes or having 99. The thing is that all the people present in this world can live their lives with two just two meals and simple clothing but we do not do it. I also earn some extra bucks but I keep them for myself. Everybody wants to have a good life and being wealthy has always been considered as a wrong thing but it is not. having wealth and being spiritual are not opposite terms.

@MrThule and what have you done to help the starving and sick of the world? Do you devote your time and energy to saving and serving sick people? Why not write to the makers of films such as Avatar that cost millions of dollars to make and tell them they should devote this money to the sick and needy of the world? Sports men and women who earn millions in prize money too, the list is endless. Be the change you want to see!

Who? Robbins is a good writer. Osho was a brilliant enlightened spiritual Master who confronted and challenged social, political and spiritual hypocrisies, in order to stretch his sannyasins towards true freedom. His knowledge and understanding of all texts and paths was rare. He was not a God, but he was extraordinary.

God isn't an entity. It's not possible. All forms are expression of the life and life is one. Their is no separation only an appearance. The world is a sort of illusion no entity truly exist. Osho was pointing to that reality just like all great Yogi that have existed. The idea of God is a creation of the childish mind. Osho
