What is periodontitis? Periodontal disease refers to a group of inflammatory conditions that affect the tissues around the teeth. The mildest form of periodontal disease is gingivitis and, if left untreated, gingivitis can progress to periodontitis.

I've been struggling with gum problems for a while, and this video helped me understand the signs and symptoms to look out for. The visuals and explanations provided by the presenter were clear and easy to follow, making it easier for me to recognize the early stages of periodontitis. I also appreciated the practical tips on maintaining good oral hygiene and the importance of regular dental check-ups. This video is a valuable resource for anyone concerned about their gum health. Thank you for sharing!"

Excellent video and explanation!! I haven't been able to get to my dentist at all throughout covid due to short staffed or there not being a dentist available and my insurance is so limited that there's only so many places within a reasonable range that even takes my insurance. Now I've been on chemotherapy for the last 2+ years and I 💯 KNOW I MUST see a dentist as, well, let's just say it's pretty obvious as I think the medication I'm on is ruining my teeth 🥺😭 but now I'm so scared as I've always had such sensitive teeth, but even more so now. So I'm so terrified of not only it being painful, but also for being judged. And of course, I don't want to lose my teeth. Ugh. Health conditions that cause alternative issues are awful! Anyways. Wonderful job here and thank you for this very insightful information!!

So if a patient has some 4mm pockets, bleeding on probing but no bone loss do you still use the staging and grading?
@nayanpatel1036
@nayanpatel1036 Жыл бұрын
If there is no evident calculus present or bone loss or ginigval recession then it would be probably generalized gingivitis with localized pseudopockets and would need to do scaling in the presence of inflammation.

the gum on only 1 tooth,,my front lower,,is lowering very fast and somewhat slight pain but does not last long,,all my other gums are normal,i`m worried as every place I called they said their booked for weeks,,so i`m at a loss what to do,,I`m brushing,flossing but still,,the gum line is now at the near end of the tooth

If it's only that 1 singular tooth, try not to worry too much and just get an appointment scheduled for however many weeks away and wait for your appointment to see your dentist. Unfortunately, due to covid, it is very common for dentist offices to be booked for weeks and even months out in advance. So just do the best that you can until your able to get in to see your dentist. You may be able to ask and see if you can be put on a cancelation list to be called should someone cancel an appointment that is sooner than your appointment, thus, opens up and a time becomes available due to a cancelation, some dentist offices have cancelation lists with names of those who would like to get in sooner to see a dentist that they call should something sooner come available? Regardless, whether days, weeks, or months out for an appointment, if you feel that you are in need of seeing a dentist, I would highly recommend scheduling an appointment for the next available date and time. And until then, please, try not to worry or stress too much over the one single tooth as it is a positive sign that it's just that 1 tooth and not any others. It could very well have nothing to do with Periodontitis whatsoever! So please, try to relax, ok? 🥹 Everything will be ok! Not too much will change in only a few weeks. You've got this!! 🙂👍🏻

In your staging table, stage 3 and 4 probing depth should be "more than or equal to 6" not less than. Great video anyways

I got irrational fear of dentist because of traumatic experiences in my childhood and haven’t gone in like 10 years. I think I for sure have gingivitis and maybe slight early gum disease but I try to brush everyday and use floss. My anxiety is so bad about it I try to avoid it at all costs. Any suggestions as to how I can reverse my gingivitis and slight receding of gum? You think I could go to the dentist for the lightest cleaning in the world and it would be ok? I can’t do needles and I would honestly rather die than go to the dentist. Maybe teeth whitening? My teeth also aren’t very straight but I just don’t want to lose any. If you take time to read this and give an honest answer I really appreciate it.
