"Not guilty by reason of insanity" doesn't mean they are considered innocent and let free, it just means they aren't sent to prison as punishment, instead they are sent to a mental institution where they can be treated and monitored by doctors.

@@ur_stonerbf I'm not sure if I'm misunderstanding what you're saying, but she had 5 kids before she was sentenced to a mental institution, which were the 5 kids she killed. She's been in that mental institution ever since and hasn't been let out, so she hasn't had 5 more kids.

The subbing translation on the first case made me confused so i had to Google the case. Grandma killed the son in law because he was supposedly abusive to her daughter and grandchildren and would douse grandma with the water hose when she was caught smoking in the yard. She shot him 10 times and reloaded the gun and shot him 5 more times to make sure he was dead.

I don't think they really understand the kind of mental breakdown Andrea Yates went through. If you're going to cover topics like these it's better to give them the full story so that the reactors don't make ignorant comments. She wasn't a "psychopathic mother" 5:34, she was a mother suffering through postpartum psychosis (not the same as postpartum depression mind you). She was quiet literally having delusions of a religious nature. She suffered through multiple severve depressive episodes in which she tried to kill herself, was hospitalized multiple times, was in a partial hospitalization program, and was on and off meds (this, I believe to be the first mistake seeing as how she was taken off her meds just weeks prior to the murders). She shouldn't have even been left alone with her children at the time, which was advised by her doctor and ignored by her husband. It's sad because those murders could have been prevented if she had been given proper treatment and wasn't being pushed by her husband to keep having kids (she told her psychiatrist that she had told her husband, before giving birth to their youngest, that she didn't want to have sex because her previous doctor said she could hurt the kids. Her husband, of course, persuaded her with his religious beliefs).

This is different from the crimes of old women by their work as pimps, kidnapping and deceiving foreign girls under the pretext of work or bringing them a month and forcing them into compulsory prostitution, and if they refused they threatened them with death and The closest example is the story of the Moroccan girl who was kidnapped by a Korean woman who works as a pimp and forced the seductive girl into prostitution at gunpoint. I remember the Andrea Yates case. It's been over 20 years, and she's still in the psych hospital. I doubt she'll ever get out. She'd struggled with her mental health for a long time, and that post partum psychosis. I don't think her husband believed in mental illness, I think I read something about him just telling her to be stronger. He didn't sound supportive in her getting help.

The Andrea Yates case is so incredibly sad bc it could have been prevented if she got the help she so desperately needed and asked for. 😔 she is was in such a state of mental crisis and the sad thing is the jury didn't get to see that bc when she stood trial she was back on medicine so she seemed fine and people couldn't understand how ill she really was. The whole family was living in an rv kind of off grid so she had no one to help her.

Unfortunately she went off her medication when she conceived her 5th child (which her therapist urged her not to have any more kids, but they were religious and refused to use birth control). Those kids should have been removed from the home much earlier sadly.

Post Partum depression always makes me feel so bad for the mother because zim my opinion it's can be as bad as a Schizophrenic attack. And it's so treatable but because of people who lack parental education and don't care about mental health it often gets to the point where the child can no longer be safe.

I would've loved to hear their thoughts on the Aileen Wuornos case beyond the tapes, but i'm assuming the goal was just to show something disturbing by how bizarre it is so that'll do i guess Lack of context and misrepresentation of the verdict aside i think it's so interesting that they're not questioning the dad's role in Andrea's children's education or the lack of care either, it's just "if they were misbehaving it means she didn't raise them well" like she made those kids on her own

I appreciate the empathy that these ladies showed. Obviously there is no undoing the hurt that these women have done, but to look at crime through a lens of prevention - there are many ways in which society exacerbates or even directly is to blame for the spiral that these people go through that leads them to these unforgivable acts. Postpartum Psychosis is something that can occur to any woman at any time and no one talks about it and makes a safe space. Poverty is another direct cause for violence, lack of support for victims of domestic abuse or assault as well. It's just all so messy and so much of it is preventable if we as a society do more to support the least of us. Again, no excuse - but if we want violent crime to happen less we can do better.

Someone needs to explain the WHOLE Andrea Yates case to them, cause as it is with them not knowing a lot about it some of their comments just sound ignorant. Like I know they aren't aware of the postpartum psychosis she had, that Andrea tried to get help but couldn't, the fact her hyper religious husband used her as a breeding machine then acted like mental illness didn't exist and decided his pleasure was more important than her mental health or the babies lives cause he was told MULTIPLE times not to leave her alone with the kids until her post-partum was treated yet he basically kept taking her off her meds anytime she showed even slight improvement, Like I know they don't have this information so to them she looks like a psycho that just unalived her kids on a whim, but like some of their comments just sounded trashy and ignorant. Like they have to know they aren't being told all the case facts right? So why throw out judgmental comments when you don't even have a basic understanding of the situation?

Also, I think Susan Smith should've been in her stead. Smith drowned her two boys so she could continue on with a relationship then lied about what happened to keep herself out of jail. Yates suffered from postpartum psychosis. She had tried to kill herself several times prior to this incident, was hearing voices, and had been institutionalized. Her meds were stopped, in part, because her husband didn't approve of her using them. She killed because she genuinely-believed she was saving her kids. She was truly out of touch with reality. Smith, she had some real psychopathic tendencies.

Am I the only person who notices that OSSC broadcasts the bad side of America and the West to Koreans, as if telling Koreans to look at the extent of criminality and barbarism of the Americans? Didn't you notice that the channel only publishes the bad side of the West? Have you ever noticed, though, that the channel does not publish any bad side towards Korea and Koreans, and that the channel does not publish or talk about murderers, especially rapists and harassers? Especially the elderly men in Korea. Any crime committed by a man, especially if he is old, his punishment is simple and he escapes with it. Because they are only elderly, and Korean law does not criminalize and does not fully punish the elderly Because the elderly are above the law and this is why the elderly are the ones who commit the most crimes, because they know that they will not be punished and they will get away with it. If you don't believe me, ask the foreigners who live in Korea And the ossc channel does not publish scandals that concern their country, but rather exposes and distorts the reputation of other countries. I am not a racist person but this is the truth My cousin has lived in Korea for 15 years and he told me about everything he saw there. Listen to me well. Every country has crimes, but Korea is the only country that does not spread its scandals and bad sides to the West. Korea applies the saying that what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas What happens in Korea remains Korea They appear to be nice And peaceful and non-racist to the West But they are the opposite, especially when Covid-19 spreads For the first time, Koreans practiced their racism To foreigners, including My cousin And they made them do a test for Covid 19 only because they are foreigners. The Korean government is telling its people false and false news that the spread of Covid 19 disease is caused by foreigners, and foreigners are the cause of all diseases, and Koreans are convinced that foreigners are the cause of diseases and that the cause of the spread of abnormalities are foreigners. Koreans, under the pretext of the Korean race, are devoid of diseases and that Koreans have clean, disease-free blood And Koreans never get sick

these killers didnt have the worst motives tho, besides andrea. I understand that andrea wasnt strong enough mentally to handle her children but that gives no excuse to her especially when killing children. although maybe the first lady was defending her daughter… that still doesnt validate killing him considering there are many other things she could have done to prevent him from abusing. the last one might have killed perverts and rapists but we dont know exactly what those men were like.
@rin7084
@rin7084 Жыл бұрын
the andrea yates case wasn’t just her being in over her head or her suffering from depression though (those things definitely played a role though). she had postpartum psychosis and was having full blown religious delusions. at the time she genuinely thought her kids would be damned to hell if she didn’t kill them. she needed serious help and shouldn’t have even been allowed around her kids until she had gotten it. it’s a gut wrenching tragedy that could’ve been prevented if she had gotten the help she needed. she has since expressed great remorse for the killings and even though she is eligible to be reviewed for a release she always declines the opportunity.

@@isasbestie9423 i don’t think you understand what psychosis is. there is a total disconnect from reality. that’s the whole reason why she was found not guilty by reason of insanity because at that time she was not capable of thinking rationally. she tried killing herself multiple times and did go to get help, but she had a psychiatrist that discharged her from a mental health facility when she had not made enough progress and weaned her off anti-psych medications because they were “bad” all while recommending electro shock therapy as an alternative. her and her husband continuing to have kids also did not help her mental state especially since she became a stay at home mom after her first child. i’m not trying to minimize what happened bc 5 children died, but it is possible to be heartbroken by this tragedy while also maintaining empathy for andrea because of where she was at mentally. maybe you should give empathy a try, and maybe you should try to do your own research.
@rin7084

@@isasbestie9423 and also it is incredibly disrespectful to all mothers that have suffered from postpartum depression and/or postpartum psychosis to say “don’t have kids if you can’t manage it”. a woman is not weak for suffering from either of those things. it’s a complication after childbirth. obviously very VERY few cases of postpartum depression have led to cases as extreme as the andrea yates case, but my point still stands. after giving birth progesterone and estrogen levels quickly drop which leads to chemical changes and imbalances in the brain. genetics play a major role as well. i really hope neither you or anyone you are close to has had to or will ever have to go through something like that because having to deal with serious depression on top of the stress of being a new parent is a very dark point in someone’s life.

@kayne2889

The only one I've seen remorse for is Andrea, Postpartum psychosis, a hyper religious husband who wants to use you as a breeding machine who keeps taking you off your meds cause he doesn't believe in mental illness and thinks you've magically recovered cause "We PrAyEd tO JeSus!". He was told multiple times not to leave her unattended with the kids cause she told multiple people in her attempt to get help (both during each of her various suicide attempts) about the delusions she was having involving the kids and yet he still left her alone with them cause his need to have fun was more important to him than the safety of his kids. It wasn't like she was 100% sane and ended the kids cause she wanted to spite the dad or start a new life. Like most going through psychosis she probably didn't even know she was actually doing it til after the fact. She was either completely out of it or thought it was just another hallucination and figured she'd come out of it and find herself staring into space again. Honestly he should have been held responsible as well, since he was the one fully aware of the situation and basically let his guides die because he believes in God and apparently that means mental illness is not a real thing to be taken seriously. Like he should have at least gotten neglect charges. Instead he got to be free, start over with a new wife and family and act as if he had 0 responsibility for what happened.
