Our 48 hours visiting the historic City of Chester

Our packed video will take you around the key attractions we managed to cram into a little under 48 hours in the historic city of Chester.
We start at our accommodation, the Hotel Indigo, a short walk from Foregate Street. We pick up the tour at the Eastgate, and a look at the Eastgate Clock.
Strolling south on a clockwise loop of Chester's City Walls, our first stop is at Newgate, where we descent to take in the remains of Chester's Roman Amphitheatre.
We follow the story of Roman Chester and more in the Grosvenor Museum, before returning to the City Walls at Northgate, but not before checking out Chester Roman Gardens.
Returning to Chester's City Walls, we head south to the weir, Bridgegate and the Old Dee Bridge. Onwards we head past Chester Castle, and arrive at Chester Racecourse.
The walk continues past the Water Tower, Pemberton's Parlour and Morgan's Mount, before taking in the views from the Northgate; the tour of the City Wall concludes as we pass Abbey Green, King Charles Tower and Chester Cathedral before arriving back at the Eastgate.
Dropping down onto Eastgate Street, we then explore Chester's Rows. The Rows are unique shopping experience that has existed for hundreds of years.
We have a brief look at Chester Cathedral, before heading part the Tourist information at the Townhall on Northgate Street and heading up to the Northgate.
At the Northgate, we head west along the towpath of the Shropshire Union Canal to the Chester Basin.
We are then transported from the Chester Basin back to Bridge Street and onto The Groves. A stroll along here, taking in the Queen's Park bridge, leads us to Grosvenor Park.
Another hop and we take a look at the thoroughly modern Chester Markets before concluding our visit at Chester's Storyhouse.

Oh, what can I say my friends, you have produced a brilliant and comprehensive tour of this ancient city with all its magnificent, important and essential history. You covered so much ground, and managed to include nearly everything - yes, I know, Chester Cathedral will be part of another video - super !!! :) Foe me, it brought back many childhood memories when my father, an academic historian dragged the kids around pointing out history easily missed - such as scrambling up the city wall, along the canal towpath to examine, at close quarters the Roman stonework that still exists in just a few places !!!!!!! An interesting point regarding the 'Tudor ' exterior timberwork - in Southern England the timber work was, for the most part left in it`s natural state, whereas in the Midlands and Northern England they were often oiled to create the more prevalent darker stain - but admittedly, in Chester, Victorian over enthusiasm perhaps made for some over the top exteriors :) Anyway, very, very well done - you will have the visitors flocking to Chester, I have no doubts :) Thank you, as always !!!

Thank you. Creating this video was a labour of love. I knew it would be long, but It was worth it to do justice to the city, so much history spanning the important parts of British history. Found the locals charming too, and despite being so close to Liverpool, Manchester and Wales, we were surprised by how neutral the accent was. Watching Daniel Craig should have been a clue; I can't place that accent. The Chester Cathedral video will appear in a while, we are heading off on a three-week trip around Spain later this week, and in late November, a trip to Germany is planned to pick up the Christmas Markets again.
