We built our backyard studio in July of 2020, during Kim's breast cancer treatment. Probably not the best timing, however, it kept her mind focused on something other than the treatment. Now that she is all clear, we decided to release the full footage of the build and show a tour of the current fitout and gear we use to film videos!

I love seeing how stuff is done in other countries besides the USA. I dig the way they did the foundation for example where they used the metal poles instead of tamping and using stone. I do think those windows looked like they went in a little quick though, in the US windows tend to take forever because of all the prep work thats done to create a weatherproof seal, I'm intrigued how those windows are manufactured since I'm guessing they've got a little something extra going on that we don't have to make the instillation that fast! Also another funny cultural difference is the plaster work, the idea of having to sand and get rid of lumps after someone did mud and tape is completely foreign here because here unless its ready for paint they ain't getting paid... they always do the sanding work too if need be here, its never left for the client.

This was great Gav! I've always wondered how it all fit together. We've seen bits and pieces from different angles, but now it all makes more sense. Impressive technical setup. I am jealous of that monitor.

That is a beautiful multi-use shed. It's a bit of a crime to call such a well thought out and nicely appointed space a shed, though.

Beautiful Studio and work space! Did it come down to a reason why you didn't add the sink and bathroom to the studio?

Yes, it was the type of building permit we had.

Wow! I always assumed you were just in your house's kitchen. Show's what 'ass-umption' gets you. Good Job Gavin. Since the floor is raised; does the floor creak when you walk on it? Did they put under-joists?

Yes a little bit, but not noticeable enough.

Great video, Gav. Question: why is the building permit only for a shed? Cost/bureaucracy too big for a sink to be worth it?
@GavinWebber
@GavinWebber 5 ай бұрын
Yes, at the time (not anymore), to build a habitable structure in your backyard you needed planning permission which increased the cost dramatically.

Dud you name Hamish after Hamish from the Hunger Games books/movies?

Hi Gavin, I have one question, maybe it happened to you, my curds always set on the top and had a great rupture, but when I mix them, all the bottom is like a cream.....what could be the problem?
@GavinWebber

Not enough rennet.
@LuchoTiz1
@LuchoTiz1 5 ай бұрын
@@GavinWebber there is such a thing as too much rennet? or too much calcium chloride? I'm asking because I would like to do some test to find the sweet spot but not sure if this could be bad for the cheese or for our health. Thanks!! A video idea could be to do some experiments.......maybe on what happen if you add to much rennet, or too much calcium chloride....
