Hi friends, today we are making my daughter's all-time favourite meal, our Best Ever Spaghetti Sauce. It's filled with all kinds of good stuff, and all my kids love it (and mom and dad, too). I also decided to make some simple meat balls to go with it. Later, I made some sprouted grain bread and wandered down to the greenhouse to do a little more potting up. I hope you enjoy coming along with me.
Thanks for watching!

Where i live in the UK, we have dinner at midday and our evening meal is called tea. I think it's a northern England thing. I'd never heard of paper pots until your last video on them, but yesterday, in a local shop, I saw a wooden tool for making them. Such a great idea and a great way to cut down on our use of plastic.

Even with your type of can opener, you can still open both ends of the tomato paste can. No need to push the paste through with the lid, it'll just slide out on its own once the second end is off. It's an airflow thing. 😉

Hey Chelsea. Thank you for sharing your recipe and greenhouse update. Apart from the freezing hose, your setup looks like it’s working smoothly with fantastic results. 😃 What’s left in your grow room? Peppers? Hope I’m not coming across as nosy; just really interested in gardening. I deliberately stunted my own indoor grow area peppers by not potting up because I haven’t got a warm enough GH to harden off the potted up tomatoes that are largely still indoors. We’ve had a late flush of below freezing temperatures at night where I live in the UK. 😩 If you plant out some remaining small onions in a designated spot you could try collecting the seed this year. I believe one needs at least 10 flowering onions to provide viable seeds. Can’t wait for more garden videos. Excited to see what changes you might share after your Master Garden course. Congratulations, btw.

As always so nice to see you. Don't you dare edit your video. It's perfect! Thank you for the great newsletter I just love them. Looking so forward to trying your recipe for spaghetti. I love to cook. I just pressure canned 24 jars of yams as they were so cheap at the market and will incorporate that instead of the squash. Will let you know. I am using the canned yam for pumpkin pie. Family said it is 100% better than canned pumpkin. The yams are so sweet that you need very little brown sugar. So fun to try new recipes. Not one to follow a recipe unless baking. But here's what I put in my spaghetti: Lean ground beef Onions and loads of em Bell peppers Some times bella mushrooms Minced garlic Anchovies Basil Oregano Thyme Marjoram Parsley Salt and pepper Red pepper flakes (I sneak em in) Canned tomatoes Tomato paste Whole wheat pasta Parmesan cheese Some times a little red wine Measurements are eyeballed and depends on how big of a batch being made. I'm not one of those that puts a pile of pasta on a plate then laddles a little puddle of sauce on top. I've always just mixed the pasta and sauce together before it hits the table. Everybody loves it and that's what matters. But you can't have spaghetti without some good buttery garlic bread with a little parmesan on top.

The addition of anchovies is brilliant. It must give it a nice salty yet unique flavor that no one would be able to realize it's anchovies.
@stacypotts6341
@stacypotts6341 Ай бұрын
@@marykoufalis7666 They absolutely do not know it's anchovies. It does change the flavor, but if you don't know it has anchovies, you can't figure out what it is. And here's how sneaky I am. There was a kitchen table debate about anchovies at my house one time, and most said that they couldn't stand anchovies or absolutely hated them. So being me, I set up a taste test, not a strange thing for me to do as I do it with many recipes I'm trying to perfect. I made a pot of spaghetti with anchovies and a pot without, that was the only difference. They all declared the pot with anchovies to be the winner, so I revealed what was in it. Their jaws dropped!!! And the pot with anchovies was near gone by the time they left my house. I do taste tests like that all the time, just label them A or B, then tell them what's different afterwards. This way I get honest and unbiased opinions and can alter recipes accordingly, and they get to enjoy some good food, have fun and learn something too. ;-)

I don’t have it written down yet, but the trick is to use sprouted flour that’s been milled well. I use Bob Mills. Here’s the rough version for you to play with. 1 quart water 1tbsp yeast 1/4 cups each oil and honey 2tsp salt Enough flour to make a soft dough. Let right twice! Munch down and lightly knead after the first rise. Form 3 loaves rise again. Bakes at 350 for 30 min. 😊

Great video as always my sweet friend. Am I the only one who was raised that when you get your bread out of the oven- you butter the tops??? 😄 I didn’t do it once just to check it out and it was crunchy crust and crumbled cutting. 🤷‍♀️ Oh well. Thought I’d ask where we’re on opposite ends of Canada. I’m the last wee town in New Brunswick… ever hear of the Home of Mount Allison university?? Walk through it going in town - campus is on both sides of York Street … and when it’s lunch, y’all would THINK college students would look both ways crossing the road but nooooo. Traffic can sit twenty minutes while they cross to the dining hall - ear plugs in and heads down looking at their phones 😄😄 Honestly, they need crossing guards more so than elementary children 😄. Cell phones are the worst invention EVER. I leave mine in my cabin - even left it when I went in town UNTIL they removed the LAST pay phone 😕 Gonna make your spaghetti sauce tomorrow for supper 👍👍 PS) I’ll let you know if and how many times I drop something. 😄. That was just too cute 🥰
