We’ve never really celebrated an Orthodox or Catholic Easter. We usually celebrate with our non-denominational church and focus on our personal relationship with Christ.

@@THECALDERONFAM oh, I think you misunderstood the question. I said RITE, because some people with a faith closer to the Catholic one, are celebrating Easter by the Catholic calendar, and us the Orthodox celebrate it, usually a week later ( there have been times where they fell on the same day), but I was curious about it because I wanted to know if there're any specific traditions tied to your particular religion. Like for instance we celebrate Easter for 3 days, the Catholic rite, only one day, we go to church Saturday night for the midnight service and bring home Holy Light and "Pasti" (bread and red wine, we all know the symbolism behind that), which we'll consume every morning before we eat anything, but after we make sure to wash our faces with spring water. Oh and on the second day of Easter, there's this tradition where young men go to people's house and "wet" the ladies of the house ( sounds kinda pervy in English, but it's basically using a spritz of perfume to symbolize wetting a plant, because with Easter, also comes the spring.. at least that's the explanation I got for the tradition; ofc in the Moldova region of the country, the young lads actually use a bucket of water instead of the perfume, but yeah, the concept remains). Oh and let's not forget about knocking eggs and greeting each other with "Hristos a Inviat!" and "Adevarat a Inviat", instead of the usual "Hello" or "Buna/ Salut".

@@m0t0b33ah, sorry for misunderstanding! While we live in Romania, we follow the Orthodox timing of Easter. I love hearing about other traditions!

@@THECALDERONFAM ok, cool. I gotta say, it's the first time I see somebody combining Salata de boeuf with Mamaliga and Sarmale... did it taste good? I'm asking because we usually have salata de boeuf as an appetizer and then move on to supa or ciorba, then eat second course like sarmale or tocanita or friptura...but then again, it doesn't have to be a rule. We all eat what we like and how we like it. Also, don't fret about decorating the salata, as long as it tastes right, it doesn't have to look fancy... it's not like the design lasts as you eat it anyways. P.s. for the dermatitis caused by the salt in the brine, just wash with a gentler soap and if needed apply a moisturizing cream... it'll calm the itchiness if you have any and bring the skin back to normal really fast. It happens to lots of people, no biggie. Also, for runny nose without scabbing at the end of the cold, or during... I highly recommend the nasal tissues from Lidl... the ones with 4 layers; they're sooo soft and carry a big load, if you catch my drift and needless to say I used two 10 packs when I was sick myself... I had a trash bag by the bed LOL.

@@m0t0b33 I personally don't care much about holiday foods, it's totally fine for me if I eat pizza on Easter or Christmas :)) but I always thought salata de boeuf it's only eaten for winter holidays and not for Easter... was I wrong? Do people usually make salata de boeuf for Easter too?
