Now, on the 9th day, the wind was becoming a bit of a nuisance (at 14 mile). So we decided to do a day trip along the station to see if there was any better spots to camp. Wow! Definitely do the drive! We stopped into every spot and each one was beautiful and unique. We drove all the way down to the south boundary fence and back. You can even pop into the homestead and grab a cold drink or an ice-cream- if you have some loose change laying about.
All armed with our new knowledge from our adventure, we had our last night at 14 mile before hitching up and heading north to a camp called ‘Stevens’. We got our van up to what we dubbed as ‘The VIP spot’ and parked it there for 6 nights. Only a 15 second walk from our camp, led to some beautiful beaches.
There was a great fishing gully right off the beach, two calm bays for swimming/ snorkelling and sandy beaches each way for miles. The best part was because it was off peak - no one was around. We only saw 2 pairs of day trippers over our 6 night stay.
Our ‘Stevens’ campsite, was up there with one of our favourites of the trip so far! We loved it. And to top it off, there was a small sand dune behind our camp we would climb and get service (both telstra & optus) to check the weather, emails and stay in touch with the world. We reckon the sand dune would also make for some good skim boarding.

Steven's Surf Beach camping area is one of 3 surf breaks on Warroora, and therefore the habitat of travellers keen to spend days surfing its breaks.
The camping area is back behind the primary dune which offers some protection from the prevailing winds.
You need a 4WD to get to Stevens, set up camp and then it's only a 5 minute walk/paddle to find yourself a wave.
