I like your choice of cattle. We used to have a neighbour graze his Sussex Bull on our field. Sensible size and a wonderful chestnut colour. (The horse chestnut sapling seems a good welcoming omen!). And a hard bred local native breed ought to suit your system well. Well done making top prices with your texel ewes.

Great choice on the cows mate! They’ll hoover up some of the sheep worms too. Cross them with a native I’d say. Shorthorn or Galloway 👍🏼

Great video and I really like the new cattle, good choice. Also smart getting them from a source that raises them with similar management that you will use. You are probably already aware of this but if you rotational graze, have the cattle follow the sheep. The sheep parasites will not affect the cows and they will consume the worm larvae from the sheep, and this will reduce the worm count on your pasture. Good luck!!

I'm not familiar with Sussex cattle, but I must admit they look good. I have many years of experience with Pedigree livestock and have come to appreciate the 3 way cross, try it and create your own breed. Good luck

Your very multi talented Chris and looks decent shearing to me. More concerned about your setup for handling cattle that hasn’t been discussed yet.

Synchronize them with cydirs, prostaglandin, estromate and AI them all the same day to an easy calving Angus bull for thier first calf.

Don't really see Sussex around here in Australia but they look a nice type and move out well. Hopefully a great new chapter in your farming.

My husband and I are planning on moving to Canada and I want to start a dairy sheep herd. A katahdin/friesian mix if I can find them. But if not then I'll get some katahdin ewes and the best friesian ram I can afford.

Nice cattle ,should be easy to manage and low maintenance. Can’t beat cattle for improving pasture ,I rotate mine with cows in first eating long rougher grass then haye sheep in when grass is shorter high they prefer. I was curious what your plans are for the cattle ,in that are you planning to sell them store or fat at certain age or maybe box beef to order?

Liking the purchases and even with the red price dropping back you did well. When will you hill them? I've started shifting my ewes every 3 to 4 days. Keeps parks clean and always fresh grass ahead of them. Good video.
