I'm 6'2" 250lbs former Marine and cry like a baby every time I hear this song too. This is a great way to test for a psychopath. If you listen to this and don't get moved you're fundamentally broken.

A couple of others have mentioned it but Tim McGraw leaves the lyric open, but in the official video at the very end, you see a woman running in with a picnic basket -- she survived and is going with them on the fishing trip.

Well if you notice she is there with him at the end so she did make it, however it is still a gut check especially for any who have been through loosing some one you love to that extent. I will never be able to here this song and not remember that moment for me. Like being hit by a dump truck. He did such a great job with this song. Bless and be well all and remember as much as you may miss a loved one they would angry that you dwell on the Hurt rather then celebrating there Life.

This song is so beautiful and so well describes the Christ-like love a man is commanded to have for his wife. The boy does not understand, as the Lord's Holy Apostle Saint Paul tells us in 1 Cor. 13, but then the boy grows into a man and leaves his parents to become one with his wife as the Holy Prophet Moses told us in Gen. 2. And from that day forward he is commanded to love her as Christ loved the Church, which is to say he should be willing to give his life for her.

My story didn't have a good ending. I begged God to take me too, but he didn't listen to me. He took my husband and left me to deal with my unbelievable grief. That was 15 years ago and I'm still grieving. I was not done needing and loving my husband. Why didn't God listen to me too? I so begged him to take me to. I know there is a purpose behind it. but I wished he would let me know what that purpose was. I'm still hurting so bad. I might bare my pain better if I knew why he took him and not me. I'm not as strong as he was. Please God, let me know why you took him and not me. I gladly would have giving my life for his.

Let me breakdown the end of the song since it's clear that you both have a grasp of the beginning and middle of the song almost perfectly at the end where the doctor prepares him for the worst and his prayers to god you hear in the lyrics are then answered if you watch closely at the end of the video they're all going to the same fishing spot they were at when they were 8 Johnny the little boy and the mom in the back carrying a picnic basket so that they have something to eat later
