Sara, an IT professional & Stephen a graphic designer and artist are world travelling Canadians who dreamt of moving to Europe, and France in particular. In 2020 they were working from home when Stephen turned to Sara and popped the question she was longing to hear, “What would have to be true for us to buy a chateau in France?” They searched online for months viewing hundreds of properties. They narrowed their search and toured some properties when they happened upon the one that captured our hearts, Chateau de Saint Germain des Pres. A year later they made the move to France to start their new adventure in our beautiful Chateau. They created “Manor and Maker” to reflect the two sides of their adventure. One, to live as chateau owners with all the ups and downs and two, to pursue their passions as makers, creating art in all its forms. They will invite others to come together, united by their passions, to share in this adventure. We invite you to join us too, as we bring our dreams to life. Welcome to Manor & Maker.

Sarah, you are a skilled interviewer, and your style is so natural. I, as a viewer, was completely engaged and at ease with the subject and artist. I'm so pleased and excited about this direction into art workshops. As an artist, with some disability, I'd love to see and learn more about your workshop, without needing to be physically present. I hope you are able to share more through your vlogs. Excellent presentation and editing today!!

It is great that the first is about encaustic. I am an encaustic artist from Ontario. One of my pieces will be showing in Venice for the 2022 Biennale. Clear encaustic has been also used by ancient carvers to protect the marble sculptures. It definitely is a very old form of art that a lot of people are not familiar with.

Morning Sara, you are looking so nice, contented and happy. Photography is an ancient art, and it changes every so often, papers, inks, cameras with various lenses, depending what you wish to do with it. What is captured on camera, only memories. So many things are taken for granted, it is only when in depth we go to the start of development that we realise how much work is involved. Looking forward to the next video, blessings for those whom wish to enrol, they are going to learn stacks in the photography field. Black and White still give a beautiful outline. Kind regards.

This is exactly one of the things that I hoped for from your channel: learning about new things! As others have said, you did a good job of interviewing MS de Groot. Loved this video Sarah! Your questions were great. Elsie is very talented and explained the method well. Good luck with your workshop! I’m sure it will be a huge success. I look forward to seeing more about the workshop! Just a suggestion. The overall lighting and the background for shots of you as interviewer could be improved. Perhaps Steve could create a Manor and Maker logo for the back wall and then you could have the current interview/workshop title & date etc added below it which could be lit as background. It would create more visual interest.

Just a thought: you could do a 3 camera coverage and lavalieres (with windsocks if outdoors) of the workshops, edit with necessary voice overs and offer them (after the in person workshop) online for a fee (fee split between you and the invited artist). These would be introductions to the workshops(s) for those who registered. Then, you would do a live session of the actual workshop so they could follow along. You could coordinate on materials lists for the workshops emailed to the cohort ahead of time, so people can prepare their materials, etc. ahead of time and then create on the fly during the online (zoom?) workshop. Win-win for you, the artist and those individuals who love what you do, but for logistical reasons can not travel to France to do the in-person workshop! For those www participants, you could then offer a supplemental live Q and A for questions that arise. This may not work for every workshop, but perhaps a lot of them going forward. It would create a much wider audience. The people who attended the original workshop in person would sign waivers to be filmed, and they may enjoy being the originals immortalized on KZfaq for future sessions. You could build up an archive and run multiple workshops throughout the year, but offer those periodically into the future since you would be well prepared as would the repeatedly (online) visiting artists....(.yeah, I am an artist (heheheh) and developed online learning for my faculty at ECU Vancouver. there is SO much potential for you to expand your audience and patrons this way. Good luck!❤️ (you can google performance waivers to download one for your in person participants and those not wanting to be on camera can opt out. you can include this in your registration.) Bon chance!❤️

Sarah -- I'm embarrassed to admit it but I have to say it -- I didn't totally understand the presentation. I was able to figure it out but ... first, I would have liked to see more of Elske's work early on so I'd kind of know where we were headed. I'm an artist and I know something about encaustic yet I didn't quite understand this 3-d concept until after she started doing it at the end -- scraping out various levels -- right at the very end. She has a very particular way of using the medium and that's great but there was something missing in the explanation. I went online to find examples of her work -- I think it must be hard to see the encaustic qualities on this digital screen. Despite that I enjoyed hearing the story of her journey and how confidently she follows her intuition, making changes in direction and not sticking to definitions, just doing the work. This isn't meant to be negative -- each artist you highlight will be different and we can go with the flow. I love Manor and Maker too.
