Thanks for watching! And just so you know, if you are interested in getting a family dairy animal, don't let the 'fanciness' of our current set-up deter you. We had a very low-tech set-up that worked for MANY years-- you can absolutely start small!

I love to see small dairy like this!! If you're selling milk, can you have the wash area in the same space as where the cows are milked? Typically the sinks are in a different room as the parlor. You guys do a great job!

I've always wanted a pro-style milk room and after milk room, taking milk to strain and have a huge commercial fridge there (glass doors) to place milk after it's been chilled in a large sink with ice water ( so ice machine too) and also a huge commercial sink to do all cleanup, separate from milk room and it;'s potential poop nad har and dirt and flies....of course this is still a dream.....

So excited for you. So wish I had enough room for a milk cow, not in the cards for now. So wish I lived in a state that allowed for raw milk sales on a small scale.

It looks fabulous! Congrats!! I'm so excited you are going to sell it locally. You're going to LOVE that sink! We have the same one in the tea studio and it's so handy for big dishes. I haul the 3-gallon kombucha container up there to wash it. So much better than a regular kitchen sink! We go ours used from a restaurant/food processing place online as well.

The parlor looks so beautiful! You deserve a nice place to milk the cows. The utter on that one cow is humongous! I don’t think I’ve ever seen one that big. Speaking of huge. If your son had fallen, that would have been a huge pocket omelette. Love your videos. Keep em comin! Blessings, Love & Hugs from Vicki in Ft. Worth, Texas 🇨🇱🇺🇸👍❤️🥰🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏

I love your parlor, it's beautiful. The only cautionary tale I'll tell you is you might want to put some kind of batter guard on those windows. Saw a first calf heifer throw her head through a window once just being cranky. Bloody mess.

Congratulations! Nice milk parlor set up. I am also an owner of a milking machine that I have not used yet. A friend was upgrading and made me a deal I could not pass up. Plus I have a half interest in a Perry milking machine, that was another couldn't pass up deal.

Hoping for some advice: we are getting ready to add just a couple hear of cattle for our family use. I currently have dairy goat's which I love for soap, lotion, etc...but really want butter, cream etc without all of the hassle. In was thinking one traditional beef/meat cow ( I may not be saying that right - lol) and one dairy cow. Wondering if a dairy calf could be raised for meat as well or it would be a bad idea or not?
@rebeccaburrow7199
@rebeccaburrow7199 3 жыл бұрын
Have a dairy cow that you breed to a beef bull and then buy a second beef steer calf to put on her. Lots of milk and meat. Raise up your dairy/beef heifers to sell to small homesteaders as less intensive family milkers (these heifers are quite popular) and eat your steer calves. Just make sure you breed to a really low birth weight beef bull to prevent complications.
