Please answer the questions folks have asked. Especially regarding usage on the face!! I want to share this but it’s not addressing the most problematic area. HOW do YOU treat the facial area since the annoying flies often congregate in the poor animal’s eyes. Is it ok to use a cloth gently around that area?? Does this help fight eye flies??

This year was the worst! I could not get anything to germinate, even using my tried-and-true methods. I finally gave up and I'm glad I did because we had a terrible drought as well as an unseasonably hot spring. I just told my husband, let's think of this as a message from the Lord telling us to take a break from gardening.

Thank you. I needed to hear this today. I can not get my cucumbers to germinate, either, and my eggplants are way behind.

Jill, Mary’s KZfaq channel was hacked around July 9, 2024. All of her subscribers, affiliates, everything was wiped out. Of course, she is devastated, but knows that the Lord will take care of her family. I wanted to let you know of her difficulty and maybe you can reach out to Mary and lend her your support. Thank you for your channel and how you enrich so many lives.

I made the salt brine pickles which came out crunchy and yet kind of dull. Could I use these in the vinegar method to pump up the flavor? Second Q: could the refrig vinegar pickles be further canned via a water bath method for long term storage? Advice is welcome.😎

Can I just tap a tree and make it with that sugar? Haven’t learned to do this yet but the trick is to do it without spreading disease

I have tried so many other sourdough recipes and I keep coming back to yours. I like your schedule-it just works for me too. I do use rice flour in my banetton basket - it is finer and prevents me from over flouring. One question-does your dough ever dry out during the overnight rise?😅

I think this would be fantastic as a thickener. Sometimes your sauce is a bit loose but tomato would be a good flavor, or you made a mac and cheese and you want to turn it into more of a tex mex mac and cheese just add a bit of tomato powder.

I took a year off planting my annual garden. I have a few things in containers for fresh eating but I’ve been putting so much food up the last few years that it seemed a good time to take a break. However, I find I’m still weeding the unplanted gardens to keep them from getting covered over with weeds 🤦♀️ oddly, we are having a good amount of rain this year. We’ll probably end up with a drought next year when I plant again!

I know this is a few years back but I just finished listening to your interview on HOA and I thought "I actually like this gal" I tend to shy away from even calling myself a "homesteader". I am not enamoured with the trend that has taken root. I love my life and lifestyle. Granted I am a few more years into this lifestyle than the 30 somethings that are now taking over the social media platforms. I grew up on a farm and tend to consider what we do as "farming" (now homesteading). My dad was a farmer, I don't mind calling myself a farmer. I like someone that goes against the grain and shows grit and won't pull punches, as well as the un"romantic" side of this life.

My squash is not germinating either. No bees this year, except one bumblebee. It truly worries me. I’m in northern NY, Zone 4a, Redfield. As usual, loving your solo podcasts. You’re my friend in Wyoming, LOL. Truly love you and the way you talk about things important to me or we have in common. God Bless You, Jill.

I love your tips, I need automatic watering! My new garden strategies are: tight/narrow rows to avoid the expense of straw for mulch and decrease opportunities for weeds to grow, also planting the tall crops to shade other crops( have cucumbers growing up tall sunflowers) that also shade the potatoes from the hot sun, also I am free from guilt for not processing or giving away every scrap of unused produce. The garden is for me, I can do whatever I want with it! I have found that even giving produce to friends and family requires additional time and work, and sometimes it’s just not worth it.

I love this episode! We are moving to East Tennessee near the smoky mountains to start homesteading and the first animal we are going to get is a dog! We plan to utilize them on the homestead mostly for safety. There are bears near the property and we are going to get elkhounds to help protect livestock. These dogs are known for hunting big game- they make the game stop on their tracks. It’s such a cool instinct!

I’ve been suggesting gardeners install remote faucets for years. Just run an above ground garden hose to feed the faucet. Fittings are available to the HW stores. Before it freezes, shut the water off at the source. Open the splitter or manifold and remote faucets to let them drain. You can leave water in the hose. It is rubber and will expand if frozen. I use quick disconnects and a metal hose at the remote faucets. It is light, durable, and can move it easily. I leave the water ON going to the remote faucets. Just install a splitter or multiple output manifold at the water source. Just the convenience off having a faucet where you want one is nice.

And just like you, it can be infuriating when you lose the whole thing to Aminopyrolid. Yep. Total loss. Will never bring inputs on the farm EVER again.

We’re in our worst drought since 1988. Our pastures are parched, we’re hauling water and my gardens are hurting. Hoping Beryl will bring some relief. My husband doesn’t show much interest in helping me with automated system. You’re fortunate your husband helps you! We’re also selling our store but no one is buying commercial now. Losing my mind a little.

I don't know where you're talking about but California has more water than in last 30 or 40 years our problem is mishandling by Gavin newscum and the state government and constant predatory regulations, overtaxing of the population, and misappropriation of funds for water infrastructure etc.😊

Well! This video was a God wink for me! My husband and I moved into our new home last year filling up the 27’x27’ rec room with our accumulation of 29 years of crafting/art/restoring furniture in a downtown building. Almost a year later and the rec room is still in utter chaos. But, adding your zoning idea, just eases my mind knowing that I can do a section or one zone at a time! Thank you so much!!❤❤❤❤ I’ve got a plan going on in my head already 😊
